Angry My 303 Cleaning & Care Kit for Convertible Tops review

I've been looking for a product to protect my convertible top after reading many reviews and advice from other convertible owners it was narrowed down between RaggTopp and 303.

I purchased 303 Cleaning & Car Kit because I believed that a spray on protectant would be easier to apply an even uniform coat VS the Raggtopp Aerosol can type

I followed the directions and applied 3 coats of protectant on the top once it was bone dry and waiting 20-30 min for each layer to completely dry.

The pictures reveal a drastic improvement over the zero protection that it had but I noticed that some of the standing beads of water in the picture appeared to be soaking instead of rolling off; even when I brushed them off with my hand. (look at the darker beadings)

The real test came 2 days ago when it rained... the water beading lasted for just a few minutes but couldn't withstand the down pour.

My rating of this product is CRAP Don't waste your money and time with it.

I plan on sending them a very nasty-gram to get my money back.

I should have stuck with my gut feeling about RaggTopp and not talking myself out of it.

Oh well.. we live and learn.

No problem, glad I could help. About to order RaggTopp once and for all.

PS: And to think the idiots at 303 claim it should last 3 years!! (it was at best 3 minutes)

Sorry you had to learn the hard way. RaggTopp is the best.

Interesting, I've encountered the exact opposite with 303. Actually, all their products are wonderful. The trick is one should follow instructions to the letter.

Personally, I did not like RaggTopp; found it left a greasy film which attracted dirt. Guess that's why one has so many products to choose from. Happy protecting!

Excellent, excellent review Buddy. Everyone can learn at your expense! LMFAO!

RaggTopp Protectant is available in pump OR aerosol! At least from my favorite detailing product source, www.autogeek.net
RaggTopp Convertible Top Care by Wolfsteins: RaggTopp Convertible Car Top Detailing Products for fabric & vinyl tops. convertible top cleaner, fabric

Aerosol will provide the ability for a more even coat than pump, however, so I'm not sure I follow your original reasoning.

Btw, for everyone, here is a great "How to" for the cleaning and sealing of your Ragtop -
Convertible Top Care Detailing 101: clean and protect vinyl and fabric convertible tops.

Here's just the video -

There isn't a whole lot of ways to get it wrong...

- Wash the top (they recommended twice) CHECK
- Wait for it to be bone dry CHECK
- Apply even layer of protectant CHECK
- Wait for it to be bone dry CHECK
- Repeat protectant and drying 2 more times CHECK

TA-DAH...

The results are what you see above.

It's CRAP!

This is the reason I don't post on forums, rude and snotty individuals who think their opinion is fact. I don't appreciate your smart a$$ comments, I was trying to be nice and share my experience. As I said, this is why we have a choice. I've used products which I haven't cared for but I don't call them crap; they simply did not work for me.

As an FYI -The bottle in my possession right now doesn't say anything about washing twice (2) or three (3) coats. But it does say "For best results, use on a hot full sun day". Meaning, park it in the sun to dry.
