Default How to/safe way to clean interior?

I have a 2000 GLS with beige interior/beige cloth seats. How should I clean the seats & rugs? So far, I have this spray foam cleaner from AutoZone ... spray on/wipe off ... not really any water. BUT, I think I read IF you use water it has to be distilled or something to avoid streaks/stains? I know the cloth interiors are easily stained/show water marks. Saw a ton of Beetle interiors like this before I found my 2000 GLS. Anyway, I don't want to screw up my nice beige cloth seats by cleaning them the wrong way. Did I also read where VW sells an interior cleaning product?

Thank you,
George

when i bougth my 2001 beetle the liner (light gray) was all dirty , i used totally awesome from the .99 cent store or dolla tree store. i seen them on regular store aswell. this stuff works so good on most anything. you can try it on a small area to see if you like the results.

Ramboow is correct about the Totally Awesome. It is! I detail cars for a living and have used it on vinyl interiors when the interior cleaner just would not cut the dirt or grease. I do rinse it well with a sponge and clear water though. A caveat on fabric seats, though; I use a can of upholstery cleaner made for fabric, on the seats instead. The totally awesome, as well as other strong cleaners, will often leave steaks on the cloth seats. On most everything else though, (don't use it on the plastic lenses, etc.) it's hard to beat!

High temp hot water extraction like the pro's use! Talk to a used car or new car professional detailer, not your corner lot detailer. New, they are an $800, $900 investment. Similar to the type you rent to clean your carpet and furniture, but pro grade, big difference. You see what I'm talking about in used car adds all the time, the pattern in the carpet from cleaning.
