Smile Of all the cars...

Here we go with my tale...

You see back in 2000 I had a friend who had a beetle.. and I got to ride in it several times... and I thought hmm, what a great little car...

But I was so into things that were raked and sleek, and post 120+ that I never really looked back... until last friday.

The dealer pulled it around, and I was like... Hmm... beetle... I dunno... but it does get good gas mileage... I guess I can take it...

Well I adopted her... and got it home... and the whole drive home I was fallin in love... Its like we were soul mates... Now I know its a car, and I understand... but I have never actually loved a car I have driven in my life... until this one... and I don't think I will ever let her go... She will always be there... Even if I end up later on down the road getting a new car... Thats ok... but she will always be my first love... and will always be my everyday driver...

Know what I mean? Anyways, *puts on his manly face, and pushy the mushy stuff aside* Umm... in other words? It rocks!

Your story is just wonderful, it truly brings a smile to my face when I realize other people have that same feeling I do!

I appreciate a little crazy and wacked out over mundane and sedated any day. Glad to know I am not alone.

Oh, no no no, you are not alone.

Congratulations! You are afflicted with NBAD(*). It's not a bad thing, but it does make us a little wacko about our New Beetles. If one of your friends, or someone, says something about your NB, you will do the equivilant of "covering her ears", and defend you car. You will park in the "back forty" and walk, so as to keep from getting dinged. You will avoid puddles on the road, so as not to get your NB dirty. As you drive by, you will look into windows that reflect, and admire the curves of your NB. You will consider moving to a place with a garage, if you don't already have one (Terminal NBAD will have you searching for a place with a heated garage). You will always look back at your NB, after parking, to admire, and to say you'll be back soon.

Does any of this sound familiar?

I do not park in the "back forty", per say; I look for other NB's and park next to them.

If I cannot find an NB, I look for one of those "other" sporty looking cars and park next to it, just too give them a subtle reminder of what class and style really means!

Yes, we hear you.

We all understand your feelings (although they may defy all logic and explanation). That's why we're here! And we're glad you found us.

I've had several cars that I 'liked' before, even cars that I really liked. But I've never loved a car before my NB.

Group hug time!

Of course, if I can park next to another NB, then I don't have to walk so far to tag it!

Not to mention GTG's and the funnest thing of all, the carabug!

Well most of that sounds familiar... haven't owned it long enough to get all of it...

The looking back, and talking to my car... oh yes... that I know well... I will even talk to her whilst driving her... which for some reason feels ok... Geez.. if I ever get a girlfriend I will have to get one that understands my affliction now... Geez..
