Okay, correct me if I'm wrong BUT....
the dash of thge New beetle is not long, it's just an illusion brought on by pushing the windscreen so far forward of the fire-wall. I mean, come on the indoor air filter (which in the golf, upon which this car is based, is IN the engine bay, is on the dash in the NB). I hope they correct this in the 2nd gen car, perhaps giving it a more vertical windscreen ala the original car.

If you watch the video, they discuss the plastic dash and the role it would play in a front in accident. The dash is what keeps everything safe inside and prevents things from entering the cabin. Check out that video first posted. Its pretty helpful in explaining the dash.

That would be nice seeing a dash that isn't the size of Montana. They would have to shorten the front end up then, otherwise it would look too long in the front.

If they made the front end, the hood area, slightly more vertical (giving it more mass) and let the fenders carry more design weight that would offset the longer hood, also having a more vertical windscreen and a longer "fall away" to the roof/rear glass provides a ballance to a longer front area.

Nice Vader suit by the way.
