Exclamation Help multiple problems!! Oil and Temp light!!

Hey guys and gals, me and my GF have a 2000 beetle 1.8t. Recently the oil light comes on randomly while driving and blinks for a few seconds, I changed the oil and it still didn't go away, does anyone know what this is?

Also the blue temp light comes on randomly while driving, does anyone recognize these symptoms? Is it the thermostat?

The blue light blinking happened to me, and it turned out that the coolant resevoir was low.

Don't know about the oil light, 'tho. Good luck, I hope it's nothing serious.

Cool

In the owner's manual on page 3-13 for my '99 it states:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This light comes on for a few seconds just as a functional check when you switch on the ignition.

STOP! If the warning light does not go out or flashes while driving (above 2,000 engine rpm) a buzzer will sound simultaneously. It indicates that the oil pressure is too low. Stop the engine immediately, check the engine oil level and add oil if necessary.

If engine oil is normal but the light continues to flash, do not continue to operate the vehicle. This could damage the engine.

Turn the engine off and contact the nearest volkswagen dealer for assistance.

The oil pressure light is not and indicator for low engine oil level. To check the oil level, always use a dipstick.

Make it a habit to have the engine oil level checked with every fueling."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I take this to mean that you have insufficient oil pressure to operate your car. Perhaps a bad oil pump, maybe a faulty sensor?

You haven't divulged the year, model, mileage, etc. for your car so it's difficult to help you...Alan
