Talking Getting my first NB tonight!!!

Hello to you all from Montreal!
I'm getting my New Beetle tonight! I am so excited, I'm writing this at 6 or so in the morning while I could still be in bed! lol
It it a black 2000 NB 1.8T GLS, that will be replacing my very old dying dear '88 Cabby. Ah! What a difference that will make. I am really excited.
It's name will be BETELGEUSE, after one of my fav movies and well I think it is well suited considering it is a Beetle that has a lot of juice!

When the salesman saw my driver's license he stated that my birthday was coming up pretty soon and said "so you're getting yourself quite a nice birthday present!"... indeed!

Enjoy your nb Francia! I had that just about the same beetle for 3 years and loved it to death.

Thank you so much! I am very happy with my NB although my mechanic hadn't noticed that the bearings probably need to be changed, I know this because I recognise the noise, my boyfriend's Golf had them replaced not to long ago at around the same milage. I think there might be something with the pressure plate also; the car runs smoothly when driven calmly but as soon as I decide to give it a push the clutch seems to slip. When I went for the inspection my mechanic noticed this but the vendor's mechanic said the clutch was fine. Luckily I accepted they wouldn't repair it as long as they gave me a one year warranty.

Ah but nevertheless its quite an excellent car and I am very very happy. So far the sun roof is my biggest fun, I haven't had one for quite a while!

I am glad I found this forum, everyone seems very nice and I have found lots of useful information! As soon as the car gets out of compound next week, I will take pictures and post them

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

Happy bug day! lol that's so cute!

Yes I am enjoying it very much! I spent about 4 hours cleaning the inside of it this afternoon. The dealer where I bought it was supposed to have it cleaned and shampooed but it was basically just cleaned up a little bit. So I vaccumed everywhere and cleaned everything. Now it will be going for a shampoo in about a week and a compound this week. Can't wait until it's all nice and shiny!

gratz on the bug Francia! depending on mileage, keep an eye out for the water pump and the timing belt on that engine, otherwise, I love mine, best automotive decision ive made in a long time!

I saw my mechanic yesturday. The timing belt was changed at 84,000 km, but I don't know about the water pump. For the clutch, I will have to replace it. I am going to see the dealer this week to negociate a free repair...

doubtful. I was silly enough to get mine done at the dealership just based on the fact that they promised to finish it the fastest, and i needed the car to get to work and back. Clutch, Flywheel, Pressure Plate and Bearings came to a total of about 1600 USD.
