158,000 miles now and will put another 130 miles on tomorrow. Bought her new in Sept 2000. Best car I've ever had...what a hot rod.

Later, Rich

If only I lived that close to everywhere I go!

You definitely need to come to some New Beetle shows and put some miles on Zoomer! You hear me, young lady!

104,000 and some change. And with the exception of a few rock chips in the clear coat, he still looks new!

Mobile 1 synthetic 15w50 with 5k intervals for the first 200k miles, but for the last 100+k miles I have been using Chevron synthetic Delo 5w40 at every 5k miles. Currently I have 316,770+- miles I do burn a little oil, probably 1 quart per 1,600 miles.

I always let the car warm up before getting on the throttle, but that said, I drive the car very aggressively. Since I no longer have a working 3rd gear I rev close to redline in 2nd before moving onto 4th gear; this has been the case for over 100k miles.

HTH,

Jeff

Are you typing from the car now? You'd have to live in it to have that many miles...lol.

I think I'm burning about the same, maybe a little more, at 205,000.

What led to 3rd going out, you think it was just your driving style? And I don't remember, how long did your clutch last?

I'm on my second tranny....the 1st one let go at just under 100k and I actually got it replaced under warranty and at that time I paid to replace the clutch plate although it would have lasted a bit longer for sure. The second clutch was replaced about 80k miles later due to one of the springs on the clutch plate failing. I'm currently on the third clutch and hopefully I can make it to 400k with that clutch, but if the current tranny were to fail, I do have a spare tranny and clutch at my office. Third gear sychros were going out until one day it was simply gone....I can put the lever into third, but there is nothing there.

258,000 and counting on a 2001 Beetle TDI - just did the Timing Belt service work (complete), so she's ready to roll for another 100k!

I'm now at about 75,300ish miles on my '99 2.0. Going to replace the timing belt and water pump this summer. Only major work on it in the past 2 years and 9 months! *knock on wood*

Hello:

Now at 330,000+ miles

Since my last report I lost the a/c so I had to replace the aux fans again. I was also planning to replace the fan control module and the fuse block on top of the battery again, but my a/c is back so I will keep the other parts on the shelf.

Car has developed a slight misfire so I think I need a new MAF and probably clean or replace the throttle body.

Jeff
