Ok, so what abuse has your New Beelte endured this calender yeaqr. If anyone remebers, I wrecked Matilida Dec. 15, 2005, and got her back around mid-February.

So, by all accounts, she should be looking brand-spanking new, right and running like she just salsa-danced her way off the production line, right?

Not exactly.

So, in 2006, I had to:

a) replace her windsheild (March). And wouldn't you know it, the new one has endured THREE bulls-eyes since then. They're glued.

b) BOTH fron wheel bearings

c) one foglight bulb

d) paint and body. long story here. A rock that thought it was a top fell off a dump-truck and lhit Matilda's hood, stood on a point, and did a 5-revolution spineroonie, leaving 5 separate dings. That was May. In September, a gate at a parking garage slammed Matilda's roof, leving a bit of a gauge. The garage paid up for the repairs. 5 unknown chips have made their way onto the front as well.

e) Radio antennea: I knocked it off at a self-service car wash when I was moving around wit the hand-piece. The hose popped the ariel off at the base. A bit of dremelling, and some plumber's tape fixed that. Thanks to GatorBeetle for the tips!

f) 3rd brake light. Spolit in tow, somehow. I've glued-and-taped it back together.

And I guess that's it. So how what YOUR year?

I got rear ended in January '06!

Had to have the back bumper and both rear fenders replaced. It also jacked up one of the brand new rims and tires I had put on a week before! See, now you got me all mad first thing in the morning....just thinking about it makes me want to go kick that guy in the again!

In 2006 lets see:

* I was hit on the highway on my pass side rear bumper, fender, and wheel but all it did was make a deep scratch in my paint and wheel. The person who hit me left...

* I backed up into a guard rail at school. A yellow plastic guard rail that scratched the top of my back bumper pretty bad. Luckily it didnt leave paint or dents.

* The usual rock chips/dents/scratches on the hood.

That is it I think ... nothing too bad. It could be worse.

Okay....

Brakes Vacuum Pump replaced...started to leak...

Timing Belt Changed at 70k...

Armrest Latch replaced...

Relay 53 for Fog Lights (still not installed)...

Changed out the EGR and Intake Manifold...

Cosmetically....needs a wax so I am carrying around alot more dirt than normal, but luckily no new dings or scratches that I am aware.

Oh how I love thee... let me count the ways:

- Was keyed in Jan

- 3 tires slashed in Jan

- Had oranges and eggs thrown at her in Jan

- New windshield due to a rock in... Aug?

- New serp belt, ignition switch, and compressor in Nov

- New thermostat, radiator, fan switch in Dec

- New brake light switch in Dec

- A fantastic door ding along with big black mark on passenger door in Dec winds

- My paint is peeing off my front bumper

Hmmmm... I think that's it. I can't remember anything else... but I'm sure there's more.

I was lucky. Nothing has happened so far aside from normal wear and tear. Couple bulbs, wipers, etc. :knockwood:

Yikes!

My car has actually gotten a lot better over the past year, no damage done besides a nice star ding in my windshield, but it was going to need replacing anyway.

Niki, your paint is peeing? Hmmm. Our cars are more human than we realize!

Daisy got a new windshield this year. I think that's it.

LOL ... peeing paint! I gotta see that!

* My paint is doing weird things as well ... but not peeing. It didn't start in 2006 tho...

* And my emblems are peeling:
(This would make a terrific wallpaper if it wasn't a peeling emblem).

Let me see here...

-February, hit a snowbank on the highway... lost a chunk of my front spoiler broke both foglights loose, cracked my rad housing, etc...

-June, pothole missaligned wheels, broke the rear shim and abs sensor...

-July, hit and run in the Future Shop parking lot, nice little scrape down the side

-May-Current, various rocks have my windshield in need of replacing

-December... weird oil leak issues...

...none of these have been fixed except the oil leak and wheels/shim...I just don't have the 3 or so grand it will take to fix it

I consider myself fortunate...

...my 98 only has a single rock chip on the windshield. It’s odd because it is circular, no cracks and it is dead center on the drivers side. If I have the proper distance with the car in front of me, the "reticle" (it’s what I call it) is centered on the back window of the vehicle in front of me.

...my 2Kt, well that is another story, the wife hit a deer and I've put off putting the new body parts on it till spring gets here; I have used a significant amount of duck tape to put the lower grill back together. However, it is cracking in more places; so I'll probably replace it after the New Year.

Otherwise this year has not been too bad.
