BTW I love the name Ringo!
My sister works at an VW, Audi, Porsche dealership and if your car is a turbo your timing belt water pump and tensioner would have all been change at around 60,000 miles 75 at the absolute latest and if not they say you can go until 100,000 miles but you should truly have it done around 70 to 75 MAYBE 80 to 90 all depending on how you drive him. If it has never been done, or you bought the car used and don't know if it was ever done, you should get it done ASAP. I bought mine use and the next week. Make sure you either get it done at a certified VW mechanic or a dealership but it not they can screw up your entire engine. A dealership might not tell you unless they are a very respectable dealership b/c if timing belt or tensioner goes then you engine is dead. Which means you would be looking for a new car and if you and that dealership have a relationship you will probably go there to get you new NB. If the timing belt or tensioner goes or a mechanic doesn't install it or remove old ones properly then it is a 3700 dollar repair job, IF you have a 2.0 engine. I am just telling you this so Ringo won't have to enter the junk yard in the sky. RINGO MUST LIVE! Just be careful. Talk to your service department or your VW mechanic. |

Well the guy at VW looked at my timing belt and he said it could wait but should be done within a few years, ringo also needs new tires, one has bulges in it and they are low quality tires anyhow. I am kind of excited to get him new tires, NEW SHOES!!!! As soon as I have extra money Ringo will get both.

Have you asked the dealership why they didn't replace the timing belt while they had it off? That still seems screwy to me. As for the shaking, I know there's a stretch of road in Tulsa that makes it seem like my car is badly out of balance. Could you have been on that road?
![]() But seriously, if they couldn't recreate the vibrations, it could have been the surface you were driving on. Unless it was the bulge you mentioned, but I can't see that as being an intermittent problem.

Its been just about a week and Ringo hsn't done it again. he's a crazy bug. As far as the timing belt goes they called while i was at work and i couldn't be reached and they where closed by the time i got out of work and so the next morning Ringo was all reassembled and ready to go. My guess is it wasn't an immediate issue and they couldn't get my ok so they didn't do it. I will get it done soon, if i can afford it when I get the a/c looked at i will replace it then.
