the limited availability of aftermarkert parts for the 06-10 models is a bit annoying....and admittedly not something i thought/knew much about prior to purchasing my 09 vert....

but then again, i'm really please with the aesthetics of my model and any modifications i would do to the exterior would be more along the custom line anyways.....

the 2.5L engine....its ok....the car is not made to be a speed demon so the 150hp is sufficient and fun to drive....

just my $0.02.....

All a matter of perspective! Coming from a 2.0, 115hp 4-speed automatic, the 2.5L with 6-speed Tiptronic really picks up and GOES!

The lack of a diesel option is the deal-breaker for me. Aside from that, I like the 06+ tail lights and cup holders, but not the bumpers or the cluster. I really love some of the newer colors too.

Other than the lack of a diesel option- LOVE my Beetle
I would have gone for a convertible but I did not like the way the top stacks up behind the seat when the top is down- I need all he rear visibility i can get.

I love all beetles. I did want a new one for reliability and wanted a automatic. Also, I love the convertibles so that is what I got.

It is an annoying visibility blocker but all the NBC's are that way - from the first year they offered to the 2010 MY.

I don't know what the 2.0 was like but I am blown away by the 5 cyl + 6spd tiptronic. Extraordinarily impressive performace-wise. And I don't easily impress.

I have seen several members of this forum complaining about the '06 and newer Bugs and I am wondering, specifically, what folks out here feel is wrong with them. One member very pointedly said there is less headroom (probably an unfortunate necessity considering the poor drag coefficient of the 98 - 05 design). That same user also remarked that everything inside was made bigger, but, looking at interior pics of the '06, I don't see any significant difference.

So, what, specifically, are the problems that other users have with the '06 and newer models?
Hello. I have owned both of them, and 03 then an 06, and I'm here to tell you there is no difference in the interior at all. As for the exterior, I suppose it's what the buyer likes. I have a 99 now, and I love him just as much as I did my 06. I actually like the looks of both of them, but like my buddy just said, I'd prolly go with the older style too!!! Good luck!!!

2.0, nicknamed the "2Slow" had 114hp and a 4 speed automatic trans. It wasn't completely sluggish but it certainly wasn't going to be winning many races, either (unless your car's name happens to be Cueball!)
