Default POLL: What do you think the percentage of men is who drive the NB?

I was just curious... what do you guys think is the percentage of men who drive the NB? I would guess 80 percent women, 20 percent men. I just bought an '06 NBC for my wife and she was wondering the same thing. Thanks for your input!!

Well let's start by breaking up the human species into genders. We have men and women and since only human's can legally purchase a vehicle then by definition 100% of Vehicles are owned by men i.e. this is moot. Really I don't care who owns what. Only that I dig it.

Ah yes, the age old question. It will be forever asked and even posted

Bug1953, its hard to say my good man. Surely the women do outnumber us beetleboys. I'm just amp'd that I'm one of the dudes who owns one.

It's cool to here other dudes give me props on me rockin a bug too!

The question was percentage of men that DRIVE the Beetle!

I would venture that the percentage is very high. Perhaps 99.9999%.

i would have to say thay abotu 90% of men drive the new beetle out of men in families with a nb, and about 78& of those men actually own it as there car and not there wifes car.

Thanks for answering the question. Sorry that I didn't.

Huck I would be in that 78 percentile.

Gandalf is mine and I'm his only driver. We both "own" Lily but Llona only drives when she is alone. I never could handle the passenger seat. My dad taught me that our job is to open their door and drive them where they want to go. I enjoy doing that. In our family, the man puts 90-95% of the miles on our cars. We're from the old school.

Thanks for your replies. I agree with all of you. Driving the NB is the most fun I've had in years and years of driving!! I can't believe the stares I got today when I was out and about. It was really amazing. I bought it for my wife, but I know I'll be driving it as much as I can!! It's great to be a proud owner of our NB!! Happy motoring!!

Default Men VS Women??

Well I used to think they were chic cars until I rode in my wifes first beetle. Then I had to have one. i have always been a fan of the smaller cars. I own three of them at the moment. She had two. SO while the car does cater to the apeal of the young colledge girls, it is also driven by 6 foot 2 inch fat men.. <---- ME LOL I dont think they were designed for the men but we can take that challenge and pimp them to be a dudes car. In the end we all love them and that is why were belong here with this great group of people. If I had to guess I would be sure that more women drive them than men. Not sure on percentages.. ???

I'd have to say that at least where I live, it's probably 50/50.

I'd have to say that my experience has been 95% are woman. Of that 95%, 2/3 are over the age of 50....the rest are young girls. Of the men, most are older as well. Me being in my 40s and having a NB seems to be an anomaly....lol. I don't give a rats azz though, I bought it because I've always loved the original but didn't want to put up with such an old car and its' problems. I also wanted heat and A/C! My wife drives it every once in a while but she's not crazy about driving a 5 spd.

My hubby drew the line on Lucy. It could have been the little red hearts dangling from her mirror, it may have had something to do with the purdy pink daisy in the bud vase, or it might even have been something to do with the license plate saying "lov3bug" and being surrounded by a faux diamond plate holder hehe

From what he told me he got some pretty funny looks when he filled it up with gas once and we then had to add rental car back on to our insurance because as far as he was concerned even though Lucy was a third car, she wasn't a car he'd be driving again

However, yesterday he took my new baby to the doctors office and loved it.

lol then he definitely wouldn't drive mine.
i have 2 hello kitty decals, one on the driver's side and the other is a hello kitty giving the peace sign on the rear window.
as of saturday, i have a zebra license plate cover on my "luv buggin" personalized plates.
there is a hello kitty seatbelt cover on the driver's side seat belt and one on the grab handle on the passenger side. there is also a hello kitty dash slip mat and a hello kitty trash bag.
zebra/leopard print steering wheel cover and floor mats.
she is definitely diva'd out and i have the itch to do more...like i am seriously considering a hello kitty exhaust tip.
and my hubby still loves to drive my beetle, even if he tells his friends otherwise! he is always asking if he can take my car.

I have never thought that the NB is as much of a "chick car" as what the media has led us to believe. In fact, I get very annoyed at the idiots over on the Tex and especially in the Car Lounge section who stereotype New Beetles as such. This is just as ignorant as saying that only gay men drive Subaru Foresters or shop at Home Depot. From anecdotal experience, I see just as many men driving New Beetles as women, so I'd say 50/50.

70% women, 30% men

I remember this stat while researching to buy, it's very accurate but forgot the source, tho I think it's from VW press release.

Sorry but it's sadly true. It's a chic car. Oh and the Subaru Forester is NOT a gay mans car, not sure where THAT came from because....it's a lesbian-mobile! Looks like a truck?...but it's a car...wanting to be a truck...aka butchmobile...lol.
