Angry Stupid Car Wash People >:(

I just got my car washed at the Chevron station on PCH (which I never do because I always wash her myself, didn't feel up to it today so I was going to let someone else do it) and I was covering it because I wasn't sure if I would be driving tonight and noticed there were a BUNCH of screw head shaped indentations in my bumper that were not there before...plus a huge scratch as well, I can probly buff that out but the indents no

I went back to the car wash with a friend of mine from the SoCal club and argued with the manager of the car wash for about 30 minutes before he gave me the business card to the body shop they work with, luckily my friend was there because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten anywhere with this guy, he kept treating me like I was stupid.

This guy was trying to differ the conversation over to my friend's bug who has scratches because of the trailer he tows around. Idiot, those are 2 TOTALLY different things and we are not talking about his car we are talking about mine and the damage you guys did to my bumper! He also kept trying to say it was impossible for that to happen because only one car goes in at a time, stupid the car behind me had to have rolled back and forth into my car. He tried telling me that not all cars are perfect and that it could have happened on the street where I live...ummm NO!!!! If I am telling you these marks were not there before I went to the car wash and they are there now then it is YOUR fault my bumper is messed up, don't try blaming me for it, I know EVERY single scratch or ding in that car, I check EVERY day and ESPECIALLY before taking it places just in case. grrrrrrrrrr

So, I went to the wrong body shop at first and the guy was agreeing with me that it most definitely could happen the way we both think it did. He also said "Don't let this other body shop cut corners or rip you off" so I am almost thinking of saying "Screw that one" and going to the one I went to in the first place and just telling Chevron they can kiss my I am going to the one I want to go to and they will pay for it

Okay I am done, sorry I had to vent

WOW!!!

I am so sick of shops who treat women!!!! I experience this all the time and it drives me INSANE. Just because you are a female does not mean you don't know anything about your car. Especially the cosmetics of the car! I mean.... I could go on for hours.

I say, use the shop YOU want Casey. And if worse comes to worse...call your insurance. They can call Chevron's insurance and well....sh*t will get done then!! (hopefully) They are responsible for anything that happens to your car while in their possession.

Stupid people trying to get out of fixing something that was their fault...UGH. Reminds me of when I had Probie tinted.....oooh I get steamed thinking about that.....

Good luck.

All the car washes here have signs warning that damages are the responsibility of the auto owner. So while my car is not perfect, we are washing it ourselves. The last car wash that also "detailed" your car didn't do as good of a job as I can anyhow.
I am gonna try that waterless carwash that someone had on here for touch ups when I can't do a more thorough job. But LunaBug is going to need a thorough car wash after a week of rain.

I know, it pisses me off too Michelle, this isn't just any car on the street, I take excellent care of my vehicle and don't be blaming me for stuff that isn't even relevant to the issue. Well we will see how this goes down, if push comes to shove I will contact my insurance company and have them deal with it, I doubt that will happen because my friend who works at a Chevron is helping me out and knows what to do to get this fixed.

Some people are just don't care about what happens to other people's property, it's terrible

Yea, like I said I usually don't go to the car wash, my grandpa and I wash my car but he wasn't available yesterday and I needed her clean yesterday for a GTG today and I am no good at washing her by myself. I know I will never go to that one again that's for sure

The ones here have signs too but all they say is they are not responsible for lost or stolen belongings, not that they are not responsible for damage, if that was the case the guy would have pointed it out. Instead it took him 30 minutes but he gave me the business card to the body shop they are associated with. I just know that those indents and scratches were NOT there before and I have witnesses to back that up, my best friend and her sister noticed the damage right away when they saw my car. So, I am not the only one who pays attention to detail with my car.

Sorry you had to have that horrible experience. It's very upsetting, and especially for those of us who are a little anal retentive about our cars and know every mark on it!

I hate always starting out these replies with the info that I have been detailing cars for 20 years, but I have and here's the dirt. Unless you are going to the car washes where no cars are run on a track together with ANY chance of getting even close to another car, AND, unless you see really high end cars there, DO NOT DO IT! One of my friends and clients had his brand new black pontiac Solstice scratched at a hand car wash and had to argue forever with the manager as you did, to take care of it. If you can go to the coin operated car wash, that's your best bet. I do it every week on my cars and do all the vacuuming and all the other stuff right there. In between, If the car is just dirty and not filthy or muddy, try some DRY WASH AND GUARD. Also, get a bottle of Meguiars Quick Detailer and a roll of blue towels to keep in the trunk and wipe off any mud splatter or bird droppings as you see them and I swear this will get you thru the week til your next car wash.

I totally feel you...I would be terribly upset as well.
Car washes here have the NOT responsible for damages signs...which is why I will not take my car to them. You can't tell me that they don't occassionally damage a car and I'm not gong to hassle with them. I don't think it is legal for them to damage my car and not pay, but I'd rather be more safe than sorry.
I will wash myself at home, which is new to me and the btail, or take it to the coin-operated wash where I am in a bay all by my lonesome. Sure, it takes more time and takes me doing it but...And like I said, when I first got my Beetle, I did take it to the carwash. But that sign kept sticking in my head. Then, once they "detailed" it, I was like, what the heck did I just pay you for? I can do better than that.

That sucks! I am sorry that your bug was damaged. dang People!

I never let anyone running car washes touch my Zoomer. Especially those cheerleader types that are bouncing around. What do they know about proper beetle cleaning!? OY! I cringe every time I take Zoomer into the automatic car wash. :\ It's my only option right now. My dad wont let me wash my car in the driveway... he says, "It makes the driveway dirty." ... with a cranky look on his face.

I hope your bug gets fixed! *HUGS*

Like I said I never usually go to those automatic car washes, for this reason, I am afraid of my car getting damaged. As for those coin ones, I have tried them and failed miserably, I usually have my grandpa help me wash her but I had noone to help and I am terrible at doing it by myself so I thought I could just have those people do it...well F that!!!

*hugs* Erin thanks I hope she gets fixed soon but I doubt she will because I will be starting my job with the Census so I don't know when I will have time to leave her at a body shop
