Smile Hey Guys!

Hey guys,
I'm Glenn from Australia and i'm looking to buy a 2005 (MY06) NB Cabrio in black with the tan leather. I just did the test drive yesterday and loved it! One thing that concerned me though was the look of the roof when its down. I've seen them before and they look to have some sort of leather cover to go over the top to make it look a bit nicer.. can anyone confirm this? I'm going to be crunching numbers with the car dealer tomorrow so if all goes to plan.. i should have it very shortly! Great forum BTW

The "boot cover" as it is called, is roughly $200 and up.

Hopefully one is included with your car. A Wind-stop should maybe be included too... if not.. it can run up to $300...

Maybe the dealer will be nice and has them somewhere hidden away, I'd check.

Good hunting!!

Yes, right at the last minute tell them you want the boot cover that came with the car. I bet it was black, but with that color combo, a tan one would also look great.

Okay.. so i bought it! Thanks for such a warm welcome guys. I'm pretty excited! hehe..
I pick it up on wednesday afternoon, its just getting some minor marks repaired on the rear bar, apparently this happened while it was on the lot.. I got $4k off the price and the dealer is ordering a brand new boot cover for me at no extra cost. I think it might be black but either way is all good. I'm also gonna put my licence plates on it which are black with silver writing, should look great. I'll grab some pics for you guys once i take delivery!
So.Freaking.Excited!

Is someone able to tell me the differences between my model and the other two in this thread apart from taillights, rims and bumpers? Thanks

Ok, lets see. You got a 2005(2006?) Beetle 'vert, that is a 2.0 liter engine. It makes 116 PS (85 kW; 114 hp) , and produces 172 N·m (127 lb·ft) of torque. Yours has a newer body style (lights / bumpers / turn signals ) etc.

Both the red Beetle and the other Black Beetle are the 2005 model *just* before Volkswagen changed the body style in 2005/2006. Both of them have the 1.8 liter engine, making 150 PS (110 kW; 150 hp), making about 220 N·m (160 lb·ft) of torque.

I don't know about any differences other than that... but those are the *big* ones.

So anyhow.. the cover isn't new at all.. its tan with marks all over it. I'm furious. If the dealer can't get the marks out of it they will be pating for it to be recoloured black. I got a quote from VW for a new one and its $1560AUD..!!
