I regret to inform you all that there's one less beetle in the world after this weekend...

A tree collapsed in the road in front of me and my 2001 Vortex Blue GLS Turbo bug and brought about it's untimely demise...pretty much tore my car apart.

Luckily, I wasn't even scratched. It's a sad day for meh, I miss it already...

Guess I'm moving onwards though, probably a jetta GLI...but I apologize to the enthusiasts, one less of the limited edition bugs out there...

A moment of silence for the passing of another Vortex Blue... may your car RIP knowing it saved its driver.

thanks for the sentiments guys, luckily I work for volkswagen as a salesman currently, so I'm gonna try to get a ridiculous deal on a new/cpo'd v-dub.

It really goes to show the safety of the vehicle. I'm a complete believer that had I been driving a hyundai, kia, ford or honda, I might not be walking away from this unharmed.

The car never owed me a dime. but I had already priced my big turbo upgrade kit at pagparts! *sob*

I'll try to get some pics. Mostly tore open my undercarriage, and some nasty cosmetic damage.

If you bought it back from the insurance company, the parts might help make getting into your Jetta a bit easier. Glad to hear you are unharmed.

Big hugs.

I'm sorry you lost your Bug. Are you going with a different car, because you want a change? Just curious. Good Luck!
