Default Silly Question

Can you still play "slug bug" or "punch buggy" even if you own a bug? My husband said he doesn't think you are suppose to play if you own one.. What is the verdict?

You can but I dont think you can do it with your own car. That is kinda cheating since you know where your car always is

i've told my bf's kids that they are not allowed to call Daisy, (they try, when we are about to get into the car) but we still play when we see other bugs!

+1. I don't usually play in my car, but I think that way is acceptable.

I will say my husband used to cheat though. When I would visit him in college, he knew where my car was and would punch bug his roomate whenever we left the dorms. But hey, it wasn't his car They had huge punch bug battles...they had a good view of the parking lot from the bathroom in their suite so he'd scope out the parking lot before they left anywhere, and would call several at once when they got to the lot. It was pretty epic!

I can not believe what all I was missing or that I would love owning her.. WOW and the vw community is so nice!! I love it.. Its deff alot different then the DSM (Diamond Star Motor for Mitsubishi ) world.. Everyone here is so much nicer and more understanding..

I think all is fair so punch away

I however detest the "slug dub" commercials VW is running these days.

As soon as I mentioned that I own a bug to my boss, she slugged me, I told her that since it'll be there everyday it's off limits from a slug (to me at least). But hey, if it's anyone else, fair game

Actually... I emailed the guy who wrote up the "official rules" to get his take, and this is what he replied:

Quote:
The Punch Buggy in the Family

The ‘owner’ of a Punch Buggy and members of the owner’s household may not be punched for a Punch Buggy that is a member of their family.* Likewise, others cannot be punched by the ‘owner’ or any member of the owner’s household for the family Punch Buggy. However, anyone who is not a member of the Punch Buggies immediate family are allowed to punch each other, provided all of the other rules of the game are being adhered to. So your annoying cousins from back east are allowed to punch each other for your Punch Buggy, but they can't punch you and you can't punch them (no matter how much you may want to…) if the Punch Buggy in question is a member of your household.

* You don't really “own” a Punch Buggy. You adopt them and they become members of the family. If you have a Punch Buggy in the family you will understand what I mean…

My wife and I play this silly game, BUT only bugs qualify a slug...we do NOT count the other VWs on the road...they don't count...only the bugs count.
