I don't think posting something this deep on here is really worth it. All of us here on the org. all share the same trait and we definitely don't believe in "Conform or be cast out".
To each his own and be who you are. The only way you will be happy is to be happy with yourself and not worry what others think.

Just one today, me. My buddy asked when when I bought it, don't you feel funny with people seeing you in it? I laughed at him. I love my beetle, my other ride is my Harley. I am not your typical NB driver, I have always been a fan of the beetle new and old ones. I don't worry about what people think about me driving one either.

Default I know who I blame it on

See, I understand the frequency of the question.

And I always tied it back to the 1980's TV show REMINGTON STEELE where Stephanie Zimbalist Jr. drove a VW Rabbit convertible - in every show. Changed the VW's from the manly car driven by oh-so-tall Wilt Chamberlin and all the snow-plow drivers of America - to a "chick car."

Maybe I am wrong on the origin of the VW as a "chick car" - but maybe I am not.

I'm a man and I honestly see more men driving the new beetle more then women in my area. My girlfriend drives a mustang and I think that might be the new chick car. I have been a fan of the new beetle since it came out in 1998( I was 8 at the time)

Two Bugs, two men. One passed as I was pulling out of the drive, elderly gent, driving a nice air-cooled, the other was in the rear view mirror in a nice NBC SE. Oh $hit... that 's me!

Hubby would drive my NB with no problem. Still see the guy with the dark green NB around campus.

I get guys comming up to me all the time at the gas pump, always asking questions about the car. More than once I have had the comment; " I am thinking about buying one for my wife" or "My wife wants one". Bull S--t!, they want one themselves or in the family. If you notice my avatar, I have a super hero in my vase holder, I am comfortable with my manhood

My bf loved to drive my NB. He liked the turbo and how it could get him from A to B faster than his truck. Especially in the city it fits through tight traffic well.

Guys are sure liking the new style of the Beetle. Sad to change it to be more masculine, but they did it. Not even a vase...

It would be great to have the New Beetle also and add the new design for those that want that.

Not that it's more masculine, just another car now! The novelty look is gone. Too bad, but the real world.

I bought a 2007 NBC for my wife in May and I like driving it! I'm 6'3' and was amazed at the leg room in this car. I also have a 2002 corvette convertible which I love to drive but the beetle is fun as well.

I'm an old guy, and drive an '03 platinum grey Turbo S. I've had many Mustangs, a Cougar, 2 Capris, an MGB, and an Escort ZX2 and other makes/models in the past, but this is, without a doubt, the "most funnest" car to drive that I've ever had! The turbo boost is an absolute BLAST!

I have only seen one other guy in a beetle in my area besides myself. I have owned a 77 trans am, a V8 dodge dakota 4x4 and many other "manly" cars. I have no problem driving a bug regardless of what anyone else might say. After buying the 07 for my wife and putting a few miles on it I realized I had to have one. So... I went out searching for one of my own and bought the 99 beetle to replace my 2000 monte carlo. The bug is just plain fun to drive and I'll admit I thought it was a girly car until I test drove one. It has respectable power for a small car and the handling is awesome. As was said before...if you think its a girls car go out and drive one!

My husband loves to drive my Beetle as much as his 2012 Touareg! Doesn't get the chance often. We saw only 3 other guys in 1 month (when got Glücklich started to pay attention to other Beetle drivers, not only Beetles), only 1 in my city, bright yellow NB and the driver waived with the bright yellow glove, was touched! Nobody waves here, but I keep smiling and waiving to the other ladies, who look straight ahead of them with expressionless face - how can you drive a Beetle without a smile? Even in MN.

I'm a guy 44 years and I love my Beetle but I think only because it's a 5 speed turbo - 2/10ths of a second slower 1/4 mile than a mid 80's mustang GT so... It's a blast to drive!
