Default Ziggy's first booboo.

Soooooooooo, I was at the bestie's house tonight and we decided to make a Braum's run after dinner. She was driving. I had my car parked in the driveway, but she had plenty of room to get around me. She started backing out and didn't see Ziggy and BAM! So Ziggy's driver side turn signal popped out, headlight is loose in the housing and there's a gouge on the fender with some small spider web crackles on the front bumper. It's really minor. She had her foot on the brake when she hit him, but still... her giant SUV was no match for the Beetle. I'll be taking him Thursday morning for estimates. Hey, since they're going to have to paint, maybe I can get some of those rock chips taken care of! We'll see what happens. It may be minor enough that she just pays out of pocket.

I had to tell someone. I didn't want to post it on Facebook and make her feel bad, plus, I know you guys can understand the attachment I have to my bug. I was horrified deep down, but I just kept telling her it was okay. But I know Ziggy will make a full recovery. it's just a little boo boo.

I'll post pictures tomorrow. I can't take any until after it's light out.

Poor Ziggy, I hope she gets better soon. I totally understand what you mean about our attachment to our NB's. I've been rear ended 4 times and it's so upsetting to see your NB get hurt.

Awwww sorry to hear that I was rear ended the other day while driving my girl. She wasn't even (according to the states records) mine for two whole weeks and already got hit. I'm sure he'll be alright though, bugs are strong!

my 08 NB was rear-ended on the highway by some massive SUV.
he was a goner after that though...
I had to wait 5 whole months before anything went through and I got money for a new NB.
I can't believe I lived as long as I did driving a Dodge rental car.

Last time someone hit me (in the Impala) my rental was a Nissan Versa. It's a cute car and I'm sure some people love it... but I'm freakishly tall and I spent two weeks in it. Every time I hit the slightest bump I hit my head on the ceiling. Lame. I really hope I get a different rental this time.

Awww sorry to hear about Ziggy. Though I doubt it'll be an out of pocket thing for her. Unless her deductible is $1k. I think they'll repaint the whole bumper/fender, but I could be wrong. It's easier to do it that way and just blend it to the rest of the car, than to try and blend the ONE spot into the rest of the bumper. And then the new corner and what-not. What a bummer! Poor Ziggy!

You probably handled it MUCH better than I would have. I know that the day Probie gets damaged...I'll either scream and yell and cuss, or I'll just cry, not like a light weep, no hysterical screaming kinda cry.... I fear for whomever hits my car.......

Reading that reminds me thats what I expected to do in my accident, instead, my mom took care of that for me. The part that angered me most was that I had my little sister in the back seat when I was rear ended, any harder, who knows what would have happened

I'm sorry about Ziggy. No one was hurt, and he is fixable. When he/she? gets back home. I remember someone rear ending me in my first NB. It wasn't bad, but I had that "pit of the stomach" feeling too. The lady whoe hit me had Geico insurance. The accident was on Saturday and I got my check , if memory serves, on Tuesday of the following week! The body shop was just behind the dealership, so I walked over to see what they had on the showroom floor. When I rounded the corner, I saw my new car!!! First car I ever drove right off the showroom floor!!!

No Casey, I'm not coming for some time. I should be in your neck of the woods on October 31st. it's quite a long way out, but we're trying to have a plan ahead of time so we can budget well.

Got two estimates yesterday for painting the bumper and fender. First one was $1070, second was $487. Hmmmmm. I got a third and it was $560. So no I know that the first one is way too high. Anywho, here's the damage to Ziggs.

It's not terrible, but it looks a lot worse in person. My headlight is out completely now. I got pulled over for it last night. Lame. Ziggy goes in for new paint on the 23rd. We reserved a rental car for me, and guess what they're putting me in... a Versa. sigh. Not a tall person car. Either way, I'm thankful that my bestie is taking responsibility. That's why I love her!

LOL ...

I own a Nissan Versa. For the car's class it has the largest interior. The driver seat can be moved up or down. You must be a very tall individual as the car is gigantic inside.

I know what it's like though driving a different car. You get used to your own car and when I had a rental down in Cali, I hated it. I was so happy to have my baby back again. Although mine is fully loaded. They probably rented you a base version ...

Sorry to hear about your Bug's booboo though. My Versa just encountered her first scrape too recently

I actually enjoyed the Versa for the most part. It was peppy, it had lots of leg room, and everyone seemed comfortable. My headroom was slim to none though. I've found that to be true of most cars. Every freaking pothole I would hit the ceiling. I'm tall, but not freakishly tall. I'm 6'1".

Lol. Ya it is a nice car. Very peppy and big inside. Great when you have multiple passengers. I still want a bug one day. I'm looking at a few that are for sale. But my Versa won't go anywhere. Shes my first car. Lol.

What a bummer! Dont feel bad, the first week i had my bug, i backed up into a red acura, nothing bad though, my license plate was bent a bit. The other car was already beat up so the owner wasnt upset, but i felt sooo bad for my bug. Im just gonna have to be more careful.
