Default The New Beetle - A True Chick Magnet

One of the arguments I gave to Co-Workers who called me all kinds of girlie names after I told them I bought a New Beetle.

"Forget all those cars traditionally thought of as "Chick Magnets". Cars like Mustangs and Camaros and big Trucks with lots of HP are actually cars that guys buy to impress other guys. It's almost this primal territorial thing.

Now with a Beetle you're driving a car that almost every girl loves, hence a true chick magnet. Who's the player now?"

Haha that is so funny/true at the same time.. my boyfriend of almost 6 years now has no problem driving my Butterkup when we go out, and he's even taken her a few times without me there. Keep in mind, she is decorated very girly haha but he thinks she's a great car to drive & he loves the turbo.. everytime he's driving my car he gets girls looking over and staring. I definitely would not want to be in a relationship with someone who is so insecure that they would refuse to drive their girlfriends car because somebody might think it's their's.

The New Beetle men here have been saying this for years. I'm glad that you discovered that rather quickly!

I think that's exactly what it comes down to, insecurity.

And yes I noticed this pretty much right away

Although I am a longtime fan of the LSX engines (and would have one if it weren't for the gas mileage... my actual dream car would be a black 00-02 Camaro SS), I still somewhat have to agree with this. My guy friends act like they don't like my car, but they're always the ones who grab my keys when we go somewhere. Hmmmm...

I get great MPG's on my LS2. If I "control" myself, I can usually average about 28-32 MPG on the freeways.

I don't know if the "chick magnet" is just limited to beetles. I use to drive a 2002 Golf and I would always notice that girls would come up and talk to me if I was in or near my car. When the car wasn't around, they would usually run away from me.

People compliment my Bowser, so I dunno. I also think some are jealous in some cases, its a unique design...not the average car.
