Default Does anybody here ever put NB's into all-car shows?

As you know, any VW club that puts on a show worth their salt will include New Beetles and most will even have a class for them. But....has anyone here ever tried to enter their New Beetle in shows that are not VW-exclusive? I've done this in the past with my former air-cooled Beetle, because the show was about classic cars. I have an opportunity to try this for the first time with my 2000 Cyber Green in a couple of days, but in a way I feel I'd be wasting my time. For starters, those who enter American classic muscle cars or stock stuff from the 50s, 60s, 70s and even beyond are a completely different crowd who typically have no love for VWs of any kind, and secondly, even VW showgoers tend to vote for old air-cooleds over the newer water-cooleds. I'm not trying to say that the only thing that interests me is a trophy, because I love to look at other people's stuff and support other clubs. But would any of you guys bother to put a stock New Beetle into an all-car show, or would you just park it and be a spectator?

I'm actually doing one tomorrow and next Sunday - I've done them before and they're real good. Then again, I did one in the spring and it would have been much better just going as a spectator. One way or the other, it's always great seeing the classics and street rods, and for the most part, the owners are quite accepting of Miss Ruby.

Now our local VW dealership wants our club to bring vintage Beetles to a Customer Appreciation Night. I don't HAVE a vintage Beetle anymore, so I'll bring my 2000 NB.

I put mine in a huge show a few weeks ago. 400+ cars. I had a ton of people looking at my car and asking questions. It helps that I live in the Chicago area and I have a Blackhawks theme going. I say go for it.

Thank you very much!

She did very good on Saturday - there were about 150 really awesome cars there, including an Ausin Healy and a Ferrari. She took Best Import! It was a participant-judged show, so that was pretty cool.

I went to a slamboree and took like third place because of my retro hub caps in the imports class.

Not an entry, just one of many other trial pics. I took over 40 pics with oranges.

Indoor one day then outdoor the next. Good stuff. Glad to see you got your car back. Any changes since it's been gone? Cosmetically or mechanically?

Thanks, yes, the Daytona H20 show was an all weekend affair.

The only mechanical difference since i got it back was a busted cv axle, stripped caliper bolt, warped rotors (in the front),stripped hub, and conventional oil. (Guy was an idiot!!!)

All fixed now.

Since the picture, ive lowered it, stubby antenna, nicer wheels, Magnaflow catback, and eurotag. I got serious after i saw those super-modified, award winning cars.

I've taken my nb to a high end import cars and coffee show once (only made it once or I would have multiple times) I went to a vw gtg just north of milwaukee, wi adn I was the only nb. People loved it. You get a wierd feeling of satisfaction when I guy who drove in with a brand new maserati that is his "daily driver" compliments you on your car.

bought time you got the magnaflow system there 70. You like it dont you.
