Default Anybody here keep their NBs in winter hibernation?

I was just curious. I realize not everyone lives in a brutal climate as I do. In Wisconsin, we've had about 50 inches of snow so far with a good month and a half to go before it finally melts. (if not 2 months) Salt is spread everywhere on our main roads, and I got my NB primarily as a show car, so I leave it parked in the garage from November until April. Does anybody else on the org do this, too?

Our vert stays in the garage when it snows and until the snow and salt are no longer on the roads. We god every bit of 35" of snow and can't wait for spring to come so we can start having some fun with her.

Mine spends winters in the garage. I will take him out on nice days if there's no snow / salt on the roads. But that seems to happen less and less the last few years. We lucked out for awhile with some pretty mild winters.

Not so lucky the last few years.

No garage for me, so she sits out in the snow (which yes, in the past few years, we've gotten some decent snow in NC). She's my daily so she sees all weather. But I don't drive in the ice or snow if I can help it, no matter the car I'm in.

We have a lot of car washes around so if she gets salty, I take her to a car wash. Its worth the $12 to get her clean without having to freeze my hands off They also use brine here, not just salt, so it doesn't cover your car quite as badly as the salt up north.

I use my Sluggy all the time! I actually love when it is snowing outside! As long the snow isn't too deep to get her stuck I am out and about in the snow and ice. Invested in some good winter tires and we're off. I always give her lots of car washes because lots of salt is put down here in Michigan. My Jetta is the one that sits in the garage! And when there's like more than 10 inches of snow on the ground and the city hasn't cleaned it, I take out the Pilot and 4WD to where I have to go. Of course caution is taken, but I have gotten used to driving in weather like this.

Herbie's used all the year round. We don't get too much snow here in the south of the UK, but we have a lot of salt on the roads.

Robbie's been hibernating since July 2008 but he'll be back out again this year, but as he's now my 2nd car, he will have most of the winter 'off'.

I've been storing my 2000 NB for 4 years or so. A bunch of stuff usually breaks in April when it comes out of storage. Cars hate sitting around unused but it's worth it to keep the body from getting eaten by salt.

I usually drive her all year round. I love going sliding around the snow piles and parking lots like the AWD kids do. This winter has been bad for RI. We got hammered with tons of snow, but luckily for me, she hasn't been stuck yet.

I drive my NBC year round, I have since she was driven out of the show room in February 2004. Overall, she is in good shape, I do wash her throughout the winter when there are sunny days, knowing she is going to get dirty again quickly, at least it gets the salt and grime off of her. She is a trooper in a blizzard, the only time I have gotten stuck was in my own driveway coming home.

I would drive my beetle on the slush covered roads here in Massachusetts and he did fine.

Last winter we got multiple storms that produced about 2 feet of heavy snow and he stayed outside through all of it. I believe there is a pic somewhere on the forums still with him almost completely buried.

"Henry", my 2007 NBC gets a bath, a shampoo along with his innards cleaned, then a good coat of wax. Then he gets covered up for the winter and placed into hibernation. He's usually in hibernation from November 1st until April 30.

The roads in North East Wisconsin are not suitable for "Henry" in the winter. He only has 23k on him and I want to keep him looking nice and shiny into his golden years, but at this rate...that might be the year 2030.
