Question Why do you love your Bug???

My husband is a porche lover, I the bug... He is on his forums where I am on mine... He wanted me to ask all you bettle-mania fans why you love your bug and what about it do you love? He says he loves his porches for the craftsmanship behind it and all that good stuff. I say I love the bug for it being cute, quirky, and fun...like me! I am so excited to go get her. As soon as I do, I will post the pictures! But please share why you love your bug so much and what goes into the name...

Why do I love my Bug?

I love Sting because no matter how long I've owned him.... as soon as I see him I SMILE! I'm overcome with the urge to just giggle like a kid in a candy store when I hop in and go for a drive.

I mean... so shiny and bright!

What's NOT to love??

As for the name. You can't just .. slap a name on your Bug and call it done. It doesn't work that way!

When choosing the name for my Beetle, originally I wanted to call him Bumblebee, because I was a huge Transformers geek when I was a kid, and the original Bumblebee transfomer was a yellow VW Beetle. But in the State of Washington, ALL variations of the license plate for Bumblebee were taken. So I got thinking, and asked some of the members of the ORG to help me figure out a name, and LadyBugEwa suggested Sting. Took a bit of time and thought about it, and then checked and it was available! So I went for it.

I inherited mine from my niece who neglected him and he sat for about a year before I got him. This NB is the lowest mileage car I have had in a long time and I had a decent start and its been a blast making it "my own". Another big thing is that I am a car guy, period. My next oldest brother is 9 years older than me and when I was young, my oldest brother drove old muscle cars. ('71 Charger and '72 Cutlass) Also when I am interested in anything, I don't just enjoy it, I kind of go all with it. Plus, as Evanrude said, what's not to Love about a NB or any Beetle for that matter. They all put a big ole on my face as well. As for the name, totally agree on that too. My Gayle was given a different name by my coworkers and I just knew it didn't fit him. I didn't give him his name until we drove over 30K miles together. Can I ask why you are looking at getting rid of your current car? Is it a TS?

I love my Bug because she's cute.
My wife helped me come up with the name Sweet Pea. She's more creative with names than I am, so she names all of our vehicles.

I have loved each one of my New Beetles. I really don't know why, but that each one was a member of the family. There ia just something special about New Beetles. I cannot explain.

Awesome thread

I love my bug because it, by it's shape alone, points back to the old school beetles- a car that I've always loved from my youth and wanted to buy. When I see an nB as well as my own, I'm reminded of the coolness of the old beetles as well as the VW brand of old. Granted, our bugs are a totally different car, compared to the air-cooled forefathers; but one look at a beetle and it's undeniable that you're looking at a beetle as well as a volkswagen.

I had a feeling even before buying Cup, that the nB would find it's place in the GtG/car social world; this was exciting to me, because I've always wanted to be involved in GtG's cruise-ins and shows. The nB definitely brought my GtG-social passion to fruition.

Other than the aforementioned, I love the design of the nB. Some call it cute- I think they have a hotness and cool factor too, so yeah, they're hot. The uniqueness and mod potential were hard selling points for me as well.

Well lets see, I have always wanted a Beetle and so when I sold my Honda.. It was either a eclipse or a beetle.. Went and sat in a yellow one and fell in love. Then decided if I was gonna get one it had to be fast. So the hubbs did some research for me and we found Speedbuggy. I was sooo happy.. I worked 3rd shift at the time and I didn't sleep for 2.5 days until I got her.

The name speedbuggy came from one of my customers who came in the store I worked at. I always talked up speedbuggy about how she was a 5 speed and turbo.. all that im sure you all know how it goes. & he saw me driving one day and the next day he was like hey there speedbuggy lol. It fit perfect.. And its stuck with us eversince.

I love my beetle because it represents everything I am. Im fun, always happy, bubbly, and full of energy. Everytime I look at my beetle before I go somewhere, I feel like we "speak" to each other, like "ready speedbuggy to have some fun?" and the look on the front of my car like shes "smiling saying yes."

I love that they are pretty quick but most people can't get past the "cuteness" to get far enough to know they're quick. I love the styling and engineering (except the cupholder! That dude needs to get fired!) and I love that they are so versatile when it comes to personalization/modification. The style works wether styled cute, euro, race, stock, ....whichever. Not many cars have personality, and these are one exception to that rule. I love that there is an amazing amount of driver and passenger roominess (not so much the back seat though) and always amazed at how much stuff I can fit in the back if I fold the seat down. Most of all I love the feeling of driving it down a windy uninhabited road! Oh! And I love to see siblings, friends, anybody for that matter, smack each other in the shoulder when they see you coming!

I must say that one time, I went to walmart and fit a boxed grill and propane tank aswell as groceries in my beetle.

&& When we bought our lawnmower.. I picked it up in the beetle. It was boxed. BUT STILL!!

I also love seeing people punch the crap out of each other too. Was driving through walmart parking lot and saw this dude punch the crap out of his buddy. I pointed and laughed. It was soo funny. Deff puts a smile on my face. OH yeah, I also seriously jam out when im in my beetle dancing and cranking up the volume and like to see people stare at me while im doing it. haha. so much funnn!!!

There are tears coming down my face, LITERALLY

I always loved aircooled beetles, ever since I was a kid (my dad owned 2) and when we bought our NBC I was looking to buy a 1971 sedan, but, my beutiful wife intervened because she wanted a convertible for as long as I can remember.
I have to admit that I never really liked new beetles and I was reluctant to get one, but at the end I broke down and bought "her" the convertible she wanted.

Well I love it now, because of the rag top, because it has enough of the soul of the old beetles and she does make us smile.

BTW, Palmettoguy does love his beetles, he just won't admit to it... he is a manly man you see
