Default Future New Beetle owner needing help! :D

Hi everyone!
I recently test drove a 1.8t 2001 New Beetle... and it was AWESOME. It was so tight to drive! The dealer wants 6000 for it but it has 90k miles on it and no warranty either. Is this a good deal? I'm concerned about things like the timing belt and water pump if they have been changed recently.

What other things should I be concerned about? And is this a good deal? Thanks!!

Besides the water pump/timing belt, the only thing I can think of is the transmission. Sticks are rock solid. Automatics tend to go south around the 100k to 150k mark. Good question. I am sure you will get a few more replies, so hang tight. Welcome to the Org.

x2

Also check the secondary coolant pump (green circle) and metal coolant pipe (yellow circle) along the passenger side frame for leaks.

You don't say what kind of Dealer, but try to either negotiate the Dealer having the WP/TB done or the cost of having it done out of the price. Unless the Dealer can evidence that it has been done. It is expensive and should have already been done (plugs and wires should also have been replaced by now). Without seeing the other condition of the vehicle, that might be a decent price, but I think a little high, and Dealers price with wiggle room. That's the low end of a '02-'04 Turbo S.

I bought my 2002 1.8T 5spd for $5,500, with 113k miles. The WP/TB had been done, along with the clutch. I was concerned with the miles, but it had been taken care of.

Inquire about these things before you buy. (Mine is white, too!)

Good luck, and Welcome to the Org!
