Wink Vw Beetle names and personalities

Let me first start off, I am a huge VW fan, both air and watercooled cars. I am married and my wife and daughter also enjoys cars as I do. (I don't own a Beetle yet, but I will be in the market for one when our current Ford Escort wagon passes off the scene, so I'm just getting ideas.)

Now one thing I noticed as I am scanning these threads are the great pics of the Beetles these pages makes me wonder something. I know owner's name their cars and such, but one thing my wife is tuned into is the personality of the car, and whether it's a male or female personality type.

She often is watching me view the pics here and she would speak up..."That's a male car, kinda high spirited." or "That's a girl there, and she likes the wheels on her." or if there's 2 or more in a pic..."That's a girl there and she's pbffft's at the other one in the pic."

Now if you all like the idea, post pics of your car, (or any that you have, and my wife will let me know it's personality type, and i'll post the responses. It's just a bit of fun i think, just to keep the mood light. If you named your car, tell us why, all that much better. ^^

And also tell us what your car does, like "True Blue hates being in the garage alone at night, she will always be hard to start in the morning." or something funny like that.
When I purchased my first car, an El Camino, I knew it had a personality of a female. But every time I parked at the previous owners driveway, she would always be hard to start when parked beside the Blazer the owner sold her for. That was her jealous trait coming out.

But please no rude comments about my wife, or that she needs meds or anything like that. I will ask they be deleted. This is something that is an interest to her, and anything that let's my wife enjoy VW's more, will make me enjoy them more as well. This will give us a chance to laugh and see some nice cars. (And if a car strikes my fancy, it will give me ideas on what to zero on to buy.)

Bows,
KimonoSkunk

Ready? Post away.

Well, first of all, Welcome to the Org!

All of my New Beetles had different, and separate personalities, and they named themselves. Trust me on this.

I have driven a lot of cars in my life, and none of my former Fords, Chevys, Nissan or Toyota had the soul and personalities like all of my Volkswagen have/had. I NEVER had this much fun an any of my Fords.

When you do finally add your New Beetle to your family, you will ask yourself, why did I wait so long?

Anyway, Welcome, and have fun with your search!

Cool thread! I named mine ariel because I had a summer house in a town called lake ariel, ariel is the little mermaid and loves the sea. The aquarius blue reminds me of the sea and I live by the beach! She is a breed of her own. I know that she was supposed to be named something aquatic because when I start her in the morning, her water light comes on for 30 seconds then shuts off. Coinsidence??? I think not! Here's some pics and welcome!

Not a coincidence, all NB's do that. It is just the engine letting you know that its temperature is low and its not good to push the pedal too hard yet.

They definitely have their own personalities. I know it sounds crazy, but my car is clearly a boy (It's that manly rumble of theTDI engine) and he told me his name.

Ziggy has been a bit needy lately and eating up the sensors and such. He's in the shop today for a new Cam Shaft Position Sensor, Coolant Temp. Sensor, Turbocharger, Starter, and coolant flush. Hopefully that's all they find. LOL. The point is, it's part of his personality. Neglect him the tiniest bit and he throws a fit.

I still Say it's a boy, but my wife will tell you otherwise. Originally I wanted to name it MOJO but my wife threaten to not let me in the bedroom anymore so... she calls her Pepper and as long as I get to drive it the name does not bother me.
I do remove the flower from the vase when I drive

Guess what... your wife's right.
And definately a feminine personality. But don't feel bad, Pepper LOVES to cruise, whether you or your wife drives.
(And Pepper won't tell your wife you remove the flower...)

^^
Hope that helps...

Male for sure. Arrogant. Car. Yes. Me, no way.

My car's name is Gayle, btw. I've always thought a car was a girl but the way I throw my guy around, no way is he a girl. With me being a huge Bears fan, Gayle Sayers.

Laycee is a girl, definlly a girly girly and luvs to drive slow so ppl see her shine(as my mom says) Luvs attenton, luvs it more when she the central of attention. Maybe thats why Laycee luvs car shows

Laycee and Sallie(my 07 beetle) do have different personality.
Sallie was a tomboy

I don't think ur wife crazy maybe us VW ppl are we are the only car owners that name our VW 's and give them funny personality.. Lol.

I have two NB's. It's amazing how different two examples of the same car can be. My 2000 2.0T is a moody, spoiled car but she gives you a thrill from time to time. My 2001 TDI is a tough, dependable car that can take anything like a champ. He's a very happy little car for sure, nothing phases him.

My 2004 2.0 is named Fiona (after Princess Fiona from the movie "Shrek"), can you guess what her personality is like? Don't be fooled by her 2.0, she likes to go fast and she will when given the opportunity.

I will tell you one thing, she does not like the desert in the summer, I took 2 trips (1 to Roswell, NM for the GTG and 1 to Las Vegas) during summer time when it was over 100 degrees outside. Fiona didn't like it so she told me so by breaking down BOTH times, guess I need to learn my lesson

I came up with her name about a week after having her, I was trying to think of a name that when said you would think of her. I was going to go with Kermit but soon realized my car is most definitely a girl, a friend of mine suggested Fiona and I tested it out, she liked it and it stuck. I think it is the perfect name for my little bug.

HA! I used to have a little green Chevy Cavalier. It was more the shade of Gecko Green. A lot of my friends called it Kermit, but I told them that she was clearly a girl. So I named her "Kermetia" (Kur-mee-sha) LOL.
