Exclamation RIP Patches

I'll get a photo up tomorrow.

All I know is the engine cut out in heavy rain and I hydroplaned into a guard rail, the driver front tire was ripped out of the car and the strut tower is busted, the airbag deployed, the radio faceplate popped off and the cover to the cabin filter SNAPPED in the collision.

I'm ok physically, not emotionally.

I'm going to have to part the car out. I cannot afford to replace it right now.

Roswell is a real question since I can't get a refund on my room. But now I can't get there.

I have a massive headache and a bruise on my left leg.

That's all for now.

So sad! At least you're physically ok.

I thought you could get a refund until 24 hours before your reservation.

Not when you book with hotels.com ... and I didn't book with the suggested hotel, I got a pet friendly one. I'm just SOL. Story of my life.

You should see if A) That bug at Apex is there's now. You can buy the car back from insurance and repair it. B) See if they are fixing that car. Its not a TDI, but its a NB. And it will likely be a cheap buy.

The Jetta is over at Apex so we don't have a third car right now unfortunately

I don't have full coverage, I own this car out right. There is no fighting insurance, I'm in Kevin Chilton's situation when he hit the deer.

I suppose what I need to do is work out which shop it's going to (I've PMed Evan at Absolute, I can walk to his shop from my new house, it makes more sense for it to go there) about dropping it off.

I need to see if my motor is still good. I have a manual I can do a 5-speed swap in. I've found a few auto sub-5k TDIs in the immediate area that my parents said they'd help me acquire. I'd have to do a 5-speed swap but at least I'd have another TDI Beetle (and really I can't afford to own anything but another TDI, and of that the Beetle is the only model that's cheap enough to do the stuff I need it to do -- like move oil drums around).

So... I'm about to go to the yard the car is at and take some photos. I'll post them up. I'm hoping Evan calls me back soon and if not it'll go to Apex I guess.

Not how I wanted to spend my saturday.

WOW!!

So sorry about Patches mang.

Being that Patches is a TDI, I would think you'd be able to part it out with ease and recover some of your losses.

As far as your room, you ought to see if anyone can cancel their reservation, and buy your room from you. At least you can get that money back and the Roswell attendee can still have accommodations.

Keep us posted on things.

SoWo I got a refund.

Roswell is non refundable because I got it at a hotel that allows pets. I can't fly (fear, cost, plus I'd have to board Talula at $70/day and parrots can only fly in cabin on US Airways and its expensive).

So I dunno how Roswell will turn out.

Car's going to be towed to Apex Tuning because Evan doesn't have the space.

We'll figure it out somehow, some way. So not OK today.

I am so sorry about Patches, but I am happy you are not hurt (worse?). I agree with Al, she was a TDI, and you should be able to part out and recover some losses. It will become clear as time goes by. Best of luck to you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. My wife and I hydroplaned in a mini van in 1994. rolled up the dedian, flipped it 3 times. totalled it. I hope all of it works out for you. The most important thing is that you are ok.
