Default Note on my Windshield...

So I came out of the nail salon on Saturday to find a note on my windshield. It said:

"Hello little bug. I think you're cute. Be mine?"

It was on white paper, cut into a little heart.

Now this struck me as odd. Although I live in a peaceful place now, the Brooklyn girl in me looked around, trying to figure out if someone was watching me - thinking "Who wants to steal my bug?!?! They can't have her!!!"

I know I'm overreacting. Just thought I would check on here to see if this note-leaving is a new bug trend I did not read about lately....

Thanks,
Erin

The first thing I did was see where you are located.......

I leave little notes, and invitations to the Org. The little valentine gives me a good idea! Thanks!

I think it was totally for the sake of fun.

I did something like this to the girl with the silver convertible in my apartment complex. I wrote "I think your cute -the green one" with "the green one" in green. I figured she'd get it, but the next day I saw her parked at the mailbox. I was new and was going to say hi, till she saw me and put her top and windows up

Now... if you keep getting notes... that's another ball of wax!

That's pretty rude. Or else, maybe she really didn't see you, and decided it was getting cold out? Coincidence? I hope so.

Twiddle,
I doubt that you (or your bug) are being stalked...more likely, your car just made someone smile and they decided to pass it along. I'd be flattered! My car's never gotten a note from a secret admirer!

I've gotten a note on my car once...I was parked next to another blue bug and I came out to my car with a note on it saying "nice car-the blue one" or something of that nature (it was sometime last summer so I dont completely remember). Definately made me smile!

The new -new beetle sales brochure/pamphlet has
notes that are to be left on other cars.

The Force of Good notes.

They read as such:

An anonymous New Beetle driver just:
a.Fed your expired meter
b.Shut off your headlights
c.Paid your toll
d.__________________ left blank so you can write in whatever good deed you did.

I would be very wary of shutting off someone else's headlights though. There would be a confrontation if I saw someone entering my beetle.
Unless I had permission to enter another car, I would leave the lights on.

I totally acknowledge that I overreacted - I moved to this area a year ago and seeing a note like that just totally "got my Brooklyn up".

I guess if it had been signed "the green one" etc, it would have made more sense to me. Then I would have felt like it was just another beetle lover.

Oh well. I know it was lighthearted, I just wanted to see if anyone else had a note story - clearly you did!

Thanks for sharing!

Erin

I know.. I was floored when that happened. It was worse than seeing charlie's convertible sister and the driver giving me a turned up nose when we stopped next to each other in traffic. Just sad

I notice quite a few snooty folks driving beetles...they never wave...they give my car funny looks...just plain rude most of the time. OH, and their cars are always stock normal, not even a spoiler. Not to say all stock beetle drivers are snobs, but all the snobs seem to be stock beetle drivers. It is like they don't "get" how cool and full of personality our cars are.

I had a similar experience at a gas station the other day...silver vert too. I smiled and waved at the driver as I left, she shot me a nasty look and looked away...plain rude.

Wow, GB. That's terrible.

There should be a test for prospective New Beetle buyers:

1. Do you promise to be nice to other New Beetle owners?

2. Do you promise to wave, or at least smile, at other NB motorists who do the same to you?

3. Do you pledge to do these things, even if you are in a bad mood, ill, or in someone else's vehicle?

If said prospective buyer answers "no" to any of these, they should be escorted to the Ford dealer down the block, and introduced to a Focus.

I can attest that non-spoiler'd car owners are more of the "don't get it kind." I was in the Jetta V today and a guest was coming into my workplace, she was in a yellow beetle with a hoop spoiler that's not anything like mine.

So I parked, she parked, we met inside at the front desk and I complimented her on her car's spoiler and she lit up like a christmas tree. That's someone who gets it. (I didn't mention the fact that her front grille was about to come totally off on the drivers side, i figured she knew already)

Default Another one!

Another note, from the same person, on my Twiddlebug yesterday. It was clearly from the same person, signed "the yellow bug".

Strange. I was not in the same place, nor the same shopping center. Very very odd. And I never saw the yellow bug.

hmmmm.

YES, that is what I am talking about, dude!! ( I do have to admit, my wife's NB doesn't have a spoiler yet, but not because she does not want one...)

Or to the Saturn dealer across the street...you are right on there, Deb!! I always thought, even before driving a NB, that their owners had to be a bit quirky...but it seems some folks drive the NB, not because it is a Bug, but because it is a VW...go figure.
