Ha awesome. Ive ridden bikes my whole life and prefer harleys to cruise and buells to fly ...

ha Im down to start a football team.... but I will need a medic on sight. Lets just say that all the good southern food and beer have made my body's Timing Belt and Water Pump as notorious as the ones in the Bugs we drive. Too bad I can not just do a swap lol.

It is a comfortable car to drive,...more legroom than I could eve need, the seats are comfy and plenty of headroom. Just wish the center console was stronger lol.

Heh, cool. Here is my other ride, my SV650s. This pic is before I changed the exhaust can. I want to get something else though... I never was into Harleys really but I actually really dig the 48, or the Nightster.

That is awesome. One thing I noticed first is the awesome headroom for the driver and passenger!

Put 15% all the way around last Wednesday... I want to post pics as soon as a sunny day rolls around.

Been talking to a dude at work about rebuilding the 1.8 after 100K. He fabs his own turbo set ups (he's awesome at JDM sidwinders and he did his Passat last summer) and we were talking about boosting that 1.8 to 300+. The thing is, that I want to keep Tron as original as possible being that it's the TurboS (really hate the red and white gauges... really love the red and blue but I can live with the white for sake of keeping it stock) but I think that a bigger turbo won't hurt... and replacing the steering wheel... and rims? Still on the fence about the rims.

Anyways, just maintenance 'till next year. Then the fun will begin.

Reluctant about what? accused of being gay ? Yes, it will happen Mind as well get over it because you WILL get the occasional stare/smirk/chuckle. If a complete stranger's opinion is that important, then a Beetle is not in your future

I'm straight and drive a vert, there's no getting out of it no mod will remove the girly stigma and I'm skinny, and I live in Los 'Image is Everything' Angeles. Honestly I want to be judged, if someone wants to talk to me AFTER seeing my car, that's the person I want to be friends with, someone beyond skin deep. My Beetle is my personal screener

I'm a gay teenager so driving a cyber green beetle with the flower vase in it is just expected. But they never expect her 1.8T to leave their silly civics in the dust.

I wouldn't trade my beetle for any of my friends cars

I'm 6 foot 3. I'm struggling to get down to 200, but we'll run with 224 for now. I'm anything but "small."

When someone asks about my car (as I wear a Volkswagen lanyard at work with my ID badges attached), I always say "I drive a diesel beetle." The Beetle aspect is usually lost for the diesel aspect, to which I talk about my 50+MPG on the highway and combined 42MPG in the city on 30+year old technology.

Occasionally I get the "but you're so tall, how do you fit in it?" and I always say "Ever sat in a bubble, compared to a box? Which has more headroom?" If they have any amount of brainpower, they realize that the arch shape provides more headroom than a square. Those who have ridden in one often complain about the dash, and I respond "You mean my desk? That's the best feature. Every laid out your entire bookbag contents on the dash of your car and driven to school without a thing moving? Only in a Beetle."

Of course the built-in bird perch was a selling point, too.

It works far better than the automatic shifter (which isn't in this car anymore... god bless a clutch):

(Wow, she's really stopped the plucking. Talula has a full tail now and most of her back feathers. I'll have to take photos for the Roswell folks who met her.)

Right on kcfoxie ! I'm 5'11" and a female and women always say "How do you fit in that Beetle?!" And my Beetle is a diesel and cyber green, so girls always say, "Why would you get a diesel in such a dainty car?" Male or female, people always have something to say about the Beetle, and their jealousy just shows! They just don't get it and they never will :P

One more dude chiming in from the Sunshine State. I see guys in a lot of New Beetles. I've gotten some grief of course but I just tell those fools it's not a chick car its a chick magnet. When my wife and I started dating she loved scooting around town in my cool yellow bug. Besides its a blast to drive! You couldn't pay me enough to turn it in for something else. I have a 12 year relationship with the car. I'm proud to be in it every day.

Another dude here. I have been driving mine for around 13 years now and could count on one hand the number of times I have received chick car related comments. I grew up in an air cooled VW family, so the New Beetle was an obvious choice for me. Of course hauling my kid and wife around kinda speaks for itself.

Oh yeah: 6'1" 225 lbs

I am 6'4 350+ lbs and the beetle is pretty roomy. And I'm a male too and I love this car so much. My friends think I'm gay or something for getting it but I tell them....does your car have a turbo? And they usually get their butt stomped and retract their statement lol

Ellen Degeneres is one of my favorite celebs, she's very funny and very open about her sexuality. If we get more people like her in mainstream media it won't be long when being gay is cool. This world is changing fast we already have a black president, race / gender / sexuality barriers are broken everyday.

Just think 50 yrs ago before the Civil Rights Bill was passed, blacks were heavy segregated, tho I never witness in person, I'm sure blacks were treated terribly. Now all races are emulating black culture via hip hop/R&B, like it's cool to be black. Watch any non-english TV and they are all trying to act/dress/talk black

It won't be long when being gay is also cool, and we don't put any emphasis on gender roles ie a guy should drive this kinda car etc... btw women have moved closer to the front lines thanks to the DOD.

Picking up my husband at the gun show today, a man in desert camo full fatigues toting a new machine gun, stopped to talk to us about Bella's wheels. Told him about the color concepts. He was driving a bright yellow New Beetle tdi. Don't know where he's from or if he's in the Org, but I suspect not.

The Beetle is on the VW/Audi A4 platform and as such is an excellent performer. You are either a fan of the exterior styling or not. My co-workers wonder why I show up at the office so happy... Well, I take the long twisty back roads to work and push the vert hard, really hard through the corners and all I get back from the bug is... "is that all you got for me today?"

Plus chicks dig it too... my fiancee still likes cruising with the top down but hates back roads now

I'm 6'5" 225 pounds and I find the Beetle to be roomy, comfortable and fun to drive. More so than many other cars I've driven in the past. When I picked up the car the other day a guy asked me was I buying it for my wife or daughter, I told him that it was for me.
