HEHE sorry, it was a Toyota Tundra. Still upset that my baby beetle is in the shop.
Here's how it went. "My car!" Me "My car!" look at each other pretty much at the same time "your car is fine, mines a wreak!" I think we finally agreed he got more damage. But he had a hard time admiting it since his truck was whooped by a Beetle! LOL |

Wait a minute, you mean that there was a polite exchange of words instead of a shouting match? This has to be the first polite accident in the history of car accidents!
![]() About the paint, I don't think matching should be a problem. I've had my Bug's rear end repainted after a parking lot scratch and it's impossible to tell where the car was painted (IIRC they have to paint the entire part instead of blending for best effect).

well, I just felt the Baltic Blue was a little more complicated of a color than Double yellow
No offense to your color ![]() It has this blue/purple chromatic color that is rare. and only done on NB's of 2002! They said they don't get paint from VW they just match it. So I'm kinda worried that it might not be the EXACT same color just close.. Although it is just a small spot. ... Update, the car after taken part has cracked fasters that attatch it to the fram so replacement parts are needed. Including a crack on the Headlight. "We have internal bleeding!" poor blumax He needs a Premium fuel IV I hope his left eye replacement goes well to.Now it's even more critical they match the color cuz if they replace the whole part it's not a spot touch up it's a whole bumper and fender. the price went from $808 to $1700! :P fortuately I only pay $500 deductable, but it still hurts pocket book. But anything to get my poor Blumax back in good health! PS:: McCarth Collision Center is sending me the photos of the accident. he said I just caught him before he deleted them! ![]() Here are the pics, it really doesn't look that bad, but the fastners were busted and need replacing The last picture is just to show the Unique Baltic Blue color Hence why I want it to look the same.Last edited by XCman; 04-25-2006 at 03:08 PM.. |

I thought, thank goodness this person is right on something, this IS totally their fault. Talk about relief, I hear nightmare stories about accidents and how witnesses don't offer to help etc. I ended up getting out of the Jetta and hugging him, saying something about being glad we were both okay (in my head I was going, "my jetta, my poor jetta", but thats between us NBADs, k?) PS: XCman, keep us updated (thats why I am bumping the thread)... post some pics when you have the beetle back from the shop! ![]() |

They will be able to match the BATIK blue just fine...if I am correct, are the colors not numbered? I had to have some body work done on my Snap Orange and I was concerned about the same thing. I swear that is what he told me, and it looks great.

The colors are numbered for Volkswagen. But I did not go with the dealership. And they said they did not get the paint through Volkswagen either. They have their own mixer and color matcher that measures the color spectrum from multiple angles.
and I must say that the paint was matched flawlessly as far as color goes. The ONLY differece was they used a finer metallic speckle for the paint than the original paintjob. but unless you are 2 inches from the surface of the paint. You would never be able to tell. I got the car back and it was fixed to better than new condition. Just had three gripes that were not worth doing without my car for anothe week :P 1. Spot on the seat from where the mechanic left a small grease spot 2. small chip in the paint at the edge of the right fender and bumper installation. 3. Rubber seal around headlight does not fit as tight as the right side. The left light was the one that was replaced. These things were not worth doing without my car again. So I just accepted it as a good job. I didn't notice them anyway when I left the lot till later. |
