Default Changing my NB's Name????

Ok, I think I have read a few posts here where NB's have spoken up and told their parents that they need a new name. Not necessarily because the first one was bad, it's just that you thought that you had a really cute name that YOU as the PARENT thought was appropriate, to later find out that alas, the NB wants a different name. The name calls out to you over and over again until FINALLY you listen.

That is my experience today. I named my dear NB Ivy because I wanted a clever name. I got it from the character in Batman and Robin "Poison Ivy". Not that I'm a big B&R fan, I thought that her story was cool....and well.....she's green(ish)...

BUT, I was not truly 1000% happy with the name. My NB kept murmering and murmering and kept trying to tell me her name but I just wasn't listening - since I figured (as the parent) "I KNOW EVERYTHING"....But as you also probably know, we as parents DON'T always know everything.

SOOOO.....Her name finally screemed out to me today.

Her new (and more fitting) name is.....Dublin
I know it's a city and that's exactly why I picked it. First, I'm Irish, love Ireland and it's people, it's my favorite place to go. If I could live there, I WOULD. So, I was in my little neighborhood irish store getting my new IRL sticker for the NB when I finally realized: "I named my iPod (yes - she has a name) Vienna after the city, because when I went to Vienna, music was everywhere, thus a perfect name for my music carrying iPod. It finally clicked when I walked into the primarily GREEN store that my NB reminds me of DUBLIN. (besides the fact that I'm sure you all get the "Dub" part of the reference as well...wink wink..)(hint: VeeDub...)

NOW, finally my question to you: Who here has renamed their NB and why, I'm just making sure I'm not the only disfunctional parent out there!!!!

I'll post new pictures of her dressed with her new decal and claddagh symbol (hanging from the mirror)...

Charlie was first called April. Sputtering and random stalling outs at low speeds when referring to him as "miss april" finally lead me to believe that my car was male. The stripes I decided on, which popped into my head while driving, sealed his name... or gave me the sign needed to know that my car is male and his name is Charlie. He's also known to scare off would-be women beetles in the parking lot (he's been chasing this yellow one for years now, it's a game of tag: if he parks near her she moves two spots over, no lie, every time. I know the owner, and she swears she's not moving the car).

Glad you brought it up, because I HAD to change my NBC name this past week.

When I was going to buy my first NB a few years ago, I was first looking at a red NB and knew immediately she'd be "Rosie" - well I ended up with a yellow NB named Stella instead.... So when I got my new Salsa Red NBC, I said "Rosie" but it didn't quite fit, salsa red is not a Rosie Red. It kept whispering "Ruby" but there are other Ruby/Rubies already...

When I was looking at my NBC prior to buying her, my husband said her production date was Februray 8th and I knew that was a sign I had to have this bug. My older sister's birthday was February 8th, but she was killed when she was 23in a motorcycle accident - her name was Sue and I totally idolized her and never stop missing her, so somehow I wanted that to be a part of my bug -- so the other day it whispered "Ruby Sue" and I knew - my little red bug is Ruby Sue - not Rosie...

so guess I know exactly what you are talking about -

Thank you - I found the name for my NBC very fitting.

And I love "Dublin" that has so much character - just like the NB - good choice!! May you and Dublin have been happy years together!

I'd like a personalized tag with my beetle named
BANDIT, Not sure the state of Georgia would approve.

Nice! As long as you don't put it on a black Trans Am and give a state trooper the finger, I don't think they'd mind. Of course, I would bet it's already taken.

I've heard a few accounts of NewBeetles not telling their names right away or owners who didn't hear it correctly. What's important is that you and your Bug communicate and get it right in the end.

I like the name Dublin. Nice work you two.

Cool

We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with "mask" markings around her eyes. I call her "Bandita".

I think you'd have to pay royalties to Burt Reynolds

It took me over 500,000 km to think of a name for my Bug... then one day, I decided his name was Zeke.
