there is an old post on here somewhere that talks about the smell coming from the firewall between the dash and engine. when its hot outside it causes the insulation in there to heat up and make that wonderful smell!! i also asked the vw dealership where i bought my car about it and they told me the same, "its the firewall...costs a ridiculous amount of $ to fix."

So yesterday I was going to run some errands with my bestfriend, when she hopped into my Beetle, I asked "hey, have you every thought my car smelled like crayons?" and she laughed and said "YES" you can't smell that??? hahaha

So then that night I asked my boyfriend, and he thinks it smells like crayons as well (his nissan truck has a special "nissan" smell as well)

He always thought I should name the beetle "Crayolla"

I like how it smells, but I never thought it smelled of crayon... I guess I was wrong!

I haven't noticed the crayon smell yet, but when I turn the heat on it smells like grilled cheese.
