I've even been known to roll my window down in the winter so I could wave. My wave return percentage is pretty high (not EVERY time, but it's up there).

I got a wave today and the other driver waved FIRST! Yes, people, that's right. Another NB driver actually initiated the wave!!!!! I was on a cruise around Fort Collins with Daisy and we're going down College Ave(which is our main drag here) and a batik blue NBC was waiting to pull onto College. She had her window down and my windows were down too. She waved hesitantly like I usually do and I waved back. I was so shocked I think I forgot to smile and I also forgot to honk Daisy's OB horn!

So Saturday I just got my Remus put on, and I was on my way home when I came to a light behind another red NB in the left-turn lane. I flashed my lights, but then the light changed to green. We took off into the left turn, and I chased him down before the next red light. We both had our windows down, and the sound of my exhaust as I was catching up to him definitely got his attention. So when I caught up and waved, he was looking at me already, and waved right back

We were in Lexington, KY last week driving our green NBC and it's the first time we've been in a city that ALL the beetle owners waved.

We were kind of freaked out at first but we're working on getting all the beetle owners in Nashville to wave.

2 days ago I waved as I passed a Platinum grey NB. I got the who the hell are you stare. Not surprising.

Today on the way home I had a clean black GTI catch up to me (I was driving Wasabi). Dude honked and waved as he went by. Made my day it did.

I am laughing because I used to be one of those "young Jetta boys" (2003 Platinum Grey Jetta GLS TDI)

The whole time I was driving the Jetta I was wishing I bought the Beetle. My parents implied that the beetle was too "fruity" looking. (It was an 03 Cyber Green with Cream leather) *drool

Maybe some of the Jetta boys are wishing they were in a NB? (secretly of course!)

Tonight on the way back from town, I noticed a car coming up behind me quite fast and I was hitting pretty hard already suddenly a uni-red slowed beside me and the passenger was waving and very excited. So I waved back and we were side by sdide for a while. Then I decided to show them what the back loosk like. I slowed down and when they caught up to me again they had a surprised look. he hehe I guess they ahd a 2.slow it was really to dark to tell.

Well I was driving to work and i saw a yellow (The dark color not the pastel yellow) buggie turn onto the street. So I was trying to get close to it, then the yellow got stuck behind someone turning and I passed them. I noticed a little while later they where behind me with one car inbetween. I got into the other lane let the non bug pass and went infront of the yellow. We drove like that for a while then we where at an intersection that has two turn lanes. I got in the left one and yellow pulled up next to me. I looked over and she wasn't looking and i turn my radio down and she calls over that she likes me pink toy (my hamsters beetle) and i laughed and told her it was from a petstore and the light changed and that yellow bug was such a slow bug that i had to leave it behind. I didn't want to tell my boss I was late because i was waiting for a yellow beetle to catch up.

No waves here either.

The only folks with Beetles here are rich, snobby old women or spoiled, snobby, brat teens. There are a couple of exceptions, but that's about it (not many Beetles here to begin with).

I seemed to get more compliments on my batik Beetle than the black. (speaking of which, my boyfriend saw my "old" NB yesterday and the new owner says she just spent 4k on repairs. Boy am I glad I traded!) and I always get more compliments from non Dubbers. I don't mind though.

Out of town NB drivers are nicer. We usually take the GLI when we go though, but we still show Dub love.

I'm 21 and I get big kick out of waves but most of the people here are men I expect to see on dateline with Chris Hansen. I have only gotten a few waves and comments but when I do its a big thril and I wish it happened more. I tell everyone I know and then get to a computer as fast as I can to share!

I sat at an intersection waiting to get on Route 7 and I happened to look up as a green turbo passes at a fairly good rate of speed. Panzer and I caught up with it at a stop light about 10 miles later. I passed him and he caught up and was right behind me at another light. I waved and wouldn't ya know the guy in the green beetle let out a huge grin and waved back.

So I got behind a blue NB yesterday at a red light. I could see the driver(a guy)checking us out in his side mirror. When the light turned green we both took off and the soot coming out of the exhaust definitely meant DIESEL!!! I wanted to carabug for awhile but they were going way too fast for me to catch up. The girl in the back did turn around and look at us.

Also - I parked in the middle of the street in downtown while my mom and I ate dinner Saturday night. When we went back to Daisy, several people speaking a foreign language(maybe a Greek family??) were totally checking out my car!! They were standing behind it pointing at the Route 66 sticker and talking. I was tempted to push the panic button, but I'm not that mean! When they saw me they smiled and nodded and got into their van.

I haven't gotten any waves/smiles since returning from Roswell. I'm missing all my Beetle friends!

Cori

Woo Hoo! Gave and received my first wave today!
Driving through traffic on 880 in milpitas/fremont I got a smile from a girl driving a silver NB. We exchanged waves, and being in traffic was actually fun for a bit.

We New Beetle freaks are an easily amused bunch, aren't we?

I actually, recently, got some Dub love, from a "vortex-type" guy in a Corrado.

I parked my car at the mall yesterday and then i saw a yello buggie and i actually stopped and said i want to move my car cause it had a space next to it but it was handicapped so i couldn't. If my grandma was with me i could have (she has a handicap thing) poor ringo he never gets to play with other bugs. There is a red bug around the corner from my house but she goes away to college. I call her Ringos girlfriend but i've never talked to the owner. Oh well, i'm just crazy.
