Wow...I got a wave today!!!

This past Sunday as I was driving to go buy the Sunday newspaper, I passed an A/C light blue vert - driver gave me a nod, I gave a quick
beep back!

I get just as many waves/acknowledgements from the A/C crowd as I do from the NB drivers

Plus, I was at the lab the other day (for the pre-employment drug screen) and noticed that there was a silver NB that wasn't leaving the parking lot as folks were leaving so I asked the tech if the owner was anyone in the lab - guess I scared her cuz the NB is hers, she had just purchased it over the weekend and thought something was wrong! I assured her nothing was wrong and told her about all the info here! (STILL haven't printed tag cards to hand out )

After waving so many NBs and not getting a wave back I was really beginning to feel like a dork.
But today I got waved back.. by an acqua blue vert with two nice ladies !!! A wave back and two big smiles . Made it all worth !!!

I Got a wave! I was driving past a black vert and I beeped. My sister-in-law waved out the sunroof and the lady vert driver waved back! Yay

I try to wave to as many NBs as I can. I wave at my one neighbor who has a Satelite Blue color concept, but she won't wave back all that often. I think she's only waved back once.

Only got mine on Monday evening, and don't see many others around (only three this week), but I am determined to get the owner of the soft top that I pass every morning to wave back - I did get a kind of bemused smile yesterday morning - she was probably thinking "nutter!", as I've flashed her 2 mornings in a row now

Im guessing the coupons were a joke, sence that place is NASTY!

I got a nice wave a few days ago. Problem is I don't know if it was a NB wave or a Soccer wave I slowed down on the highway to let this lovely yellow NB catch up to me, then smiled and vaved at them when they were right beside me. What gave me pause, was the Italian flag the female passenger had painted on her cheek (it was still World Cup time - and I tell you people went CRAZY here ). So I don't know if their smiles and vaves were to support the beetle or the soccer. I suppose since both are round, I'll just have to assume they were waving in support of 'roundness' either way and be happy. And that's my little story...

"Someone has to lead" is so true, i passed a lady in her 50's driving a 2002 PG beetle just like mine, i waved and she looked shocked, passed her again and she smiled, passed her again today and she waved at me first...... MADE ME SMILE!

So yesterday i was leaving work and made it a couple of traffic lights. My buddy Greg was in his Explorer next to me. I was first at the light and all of the sudden this hot Silver Bug comes zoomin through the light in front of me turning onto the road i was on. I of course got excited cuz it had a hot wing and some mean black rims with chrome lip. So as i'm pointing and flipping out hoping Greg would notice, i catch him when he got onto the road i was and that's when it happened. The guy saw me too and starting pointing and honking the horn and we waved.

THAN all the ride home i kept seeing more Beetles alllll over. A sweet red one and i was stopped next to these two cute chiks in a clean as hell yellow color concept and i waved big at them and they thought i was crazy, but i don't care of course.

I'm a freaking Beetard, i swear. Yeah, that's my story for now.

I hope i can find that guy from yesterday. I need a local Beetle friend.

Since I read this thread I've started waving like a crazy woman. Today I waved at a gal in a red 2006 with a bigass grin on my face and she waved back! So hello to Brooks1 driving in Suffolk, VA if you post at NB.org!!!

I love to park next to other Beetles, esp. other yellow ones like mine. I always tell my kids they are Woodstocks brothers or sisters. I do not get many waves, but I wave.

My son gets alot more attention in HIS beetle, because it is Vortex Blue, many people ask him about the odd color. He is a single 20 year old guy, who says girls are quite attracted to his car. He deflects guys who make fun of him by pointing out how fast the car is....... (1.8 Turbo is SO much faster, I have driven both)

I'm just weird, I guess, but I'd be happier as a 20 yr. old boy, driving a car that attracts girls rather than guys. I guess it's just a matter of what you'd want to attract...

Wednesday, July 26:

1. Going into the Downtown Tunnel in Norfolk, got a sign from a gal in a black NB (2000?). Bigass silly grin and huge waves from me!

2. Going to the Y, husband following me in his ug-nug Mustang. I see a yellow NB turning left as I'm turning right. Waves abound!!!

No NB sightings today...yet!

Good and bad today...............

I was going to get the new MAF for Kraut, and I see a Harvest vert coming up behind me. So I slow and look over, the girl must have thought I flipped my lid. I'm wavin and she wouldn't as much as look in my general direction. Oh well.....

So later I am getting gas for Kraut, and a red NB pulls in. I asked what year to see what kind of reaction I would get and she seemed kinda weirded out at first, but then I told her about the ORG and she finally loosened up. So I wrote the site down for her and she said she was gonna check it out. Oh yeah, I also told her about the GTG in Vegas.

The only person who's ever waved at me in the NB was a guy in a Passat a few weeks ago. The aircooled drivers seem to be more into the community thing; they wave when I'm driving my classic. Something I've noticed, though, an awful lot of the people driving nice or niche cars -- Corvettes, Mini-Coopers, things like that -- check out my car, and wave back if I give them one. It's just almost never other people in New Beetles for some reason.

Our Tornado Red NBC draws some attention while on the road, and every other car, any car, that's also "converting" gets a wave. Apparently, other "converters" have the same mantra, because we are crazy wavin' fools to each other! (*exception: The preppie in the Beemer )


Yesterday, I was at a stop light, and to the right, at the other stop light was a 2006 Platinum Gray NB. Since my windows are tinted, and I wanted to make sure she saw me, I prepared by putting the passenger window down. When my light turned green, of course I waved and peace-signed her, and through her windshields glare, I saw the same back! Yay!

Yesterday Ladybug and I had our first "road trip" - a 3hr+ drive one way to Kincardine (Western Ontario on Lake Huron) and back. I got 2 waves from NB drivers! The great coincidence that really blew my mind was, that both were driving the same highway, in the same direction, one 1/2Hr behind the other, and both were the exact same (rare) color! The first was a coupe with a sunroof, the second a vert. The color looked like aquarius blue to me, though I have my doubts now, since I don't think the coupes were ever made in that color Both drivers were female, and they saw me waving like a NBmaniac from a mile away, and were smiling by the time we passed each other, as well as waving. I had a REALLY hard time containing my excitement.
