Today my mom and I went to Schmidt's Bakery and Deli in Loveland for an aunthentic German lunch. Spatzel and gravy, brats, potato salad, cucumber and tomato salad, YUMMY! Anyway, I waited for a family to get to their van and pull out since parking was extremely limited. Instead of getting in the van, they kept staring at my car! I smiled at them, hoping they would get in and drive off since there were more cars behind me waiting for a space. So funny! I get more response from non-Beetle drivers. Oh well. There was also a blue NB there.

The 5th was a young blonde who ignored me. Don't know if it was just that Friday feeling, or if it's because I've been waving at all of them for so long!

Then got to the supermarket and managed to park by a soft top with nice wheels. (Will post the pic from my phone later in the other thread) and tagged her, but it's been raining, so I think the ink might run will have to laminate some, but kinda worried about littering and giving the org a bad name!

Today was definitely a good beetle day! I love driving a New Beetle!

A week or so ago, I was having a great day, driving the 'vert, top down of course. I merged onto the freeway, trying to get into the middle land, and this dumb white Camry wouldn't move. I finally looked at them, and they were all smiling at me, and giving me the thumbs-up. I peaced them and then stepped on it, and finally got into the middle lane. It made my day even better!

I was driving to my friend's house yesterday and some older dudes in a truck all of a sudden just cut in front of me, I got kinda ticked but then then the dude riding in the passenger seat stuck his head out the window and gave me a peace sign! It made me laugh

It's kind of funny, last week I had my daughter in the car (mustang) and we were headed to the dealership for our first look at the new beetles. A green NB went to pass me. The lady looked at me and my daughter, smiled, waved, and tooted her horn! I took it as a sign....a good sign. I was not even staring at her. How could she have known that I had green-beetle on the brain?

Went to Sonic the other night and the girl that handed me my Coke said "I like your Bug!" and smiled. That made my night. I haven't gotten any waves, smiles, acknowledgements from any VW in a while....I'm feeling deprived....

Leaving the coffee shop a while ago, there was a guy sittin' out front right by Juggy and when I was getting in he said, "Wow. That's a beautiful car." That made my morning! Now hopefully the rest of the day won't suck so bad

I was traveling down a deserted highway this afternoon, when I saw an NB heading my direction. I flicked my lights since I was going too fast to roll the window down. He slowed down, rolled down his window and gave me a big grin and wave. His NB was Gecko Green and was towing a new pop-up camper that had a custom paint job to match the car. How cool is that!

Last week I 'allowed' my mom to drive Daisy since my dad had my mom's car because his was being worked on. She was driving around in town and passed a blue NB on the driver's side. The driver rolled down her window, smiled and waved and so did her passenger(maybe her mom?) I was so jealous that my mom got waved at in my car! Then today I was sitting at a light on a highway overpass and a yellow NB with spoiler was coming my way! I rolled down my window, waved and smiled half-heartedly, not expecting anything. The driver, a lady, actually waved back!!!!!

I had my first experience the other day. I was sitting at a red light in Betty, our '01 Uni-Red and an older lady (60s) rolled up next to me in her '06 Red NB. I looked over and couldn't help but smile as she looked over and smiled at me, it was great. i'm always on the look out for NB's to wave at! I'm loving it, what a great car.

I got my 2000 bug on August 19, 1999.

Since then I've always thought it was a law - if you have a NB and see one, you MUST meep-meep (my first mod was a 1968 horn) and wave. (Just like if there's another NB in the parking lot, you MUST park next to them, or as close to them as possible.)

More often than not I won't get a reaction, but it's nice to know that I'm a such law-abiding citizen (heh heh heh) - besides, it makes my husband skooch down in his seat .

I'm always surprised by any reactions from non-NBs though - the first few times I wasn't sure if they were making fun of me or just being cool; I also get a kick out of seeing kids doing the 'punch-bug' routine.

I have peace signs on my rear lights and I absolutely love watching people in my rear view mirror as they come up behind me at a stop! There's usually alot of pointing and smiles.

For those of you that do honk/wave at other NBs, have you ever noticed that certain colors are more "friendly" than others? Just wondering - I've come up with my own conclusions over the years - 3 that are the most friendly and 3 that are not (so far I have found no exceptions).

So ... for those of you who may ever make it to Southern Maryland, be on alert - I honk and wave!!!

You guys are soo lucky, I haven't gotten a single wave or smile since I got Gertie in August. Maybe I'm living in the wrong state..hehe. At least I can saythat one has parked near me at work, a silver one was parked a spot away from me, they looked so cute together..hehe

I want one too! I about cringed the first time I heard the loud honker on my bug.

Speaking of waves, I got a very friendly one from an old guy that was driving a green air-cooled the other day. I think that he was just happy to see a new VW face around this little backwater hole-in-the-wall town.
