About a year after I got Kittee, I saw a white Hummer limo ahead of me. As I was going around it, two little kids poked their heads out the window and waved at me. I waved back, I think it made their day.

As I was walking away from Daisy to the grocery store earlier this evening, a lady was coming my way. She smiled and said "I love your bug - that blue is so pretty!" I said thank you and she said "I've driven volkswagens all my life, I used to have a 73 Karmann Ghia and it was a blue like yours. This is the first time without a VW" as she got into her Ford Escape.

I love owning a Beetle. No one approaches you about your Honda sedan or whatever and says "I love your car!" Nope.

Coming home from dinner last night, we got next to a Touareg, we were in the Passat. I peace signed the Touareg driver, and he waved, and continued to wave, until we were apart. Neither were Bugs, but the VW love was felt!

I got the feeling he didn't get much love from others, and that this few seconds made his whole day!

I keep waving at people in bugs here in Kansas City, but noone waves back 9 out of 10 of 'em are on their cell phones and don't even see me. I even pulled up next to a woman in an identical silver bug and she wouldn't even look over... so if there are any KC people on here.. wave back darnit, make my day!

I got a wave the other day at Wally world. I was looking for a spot to park and out pulls an aquarius vert with the grey top. As he drives past me I give him a wave and he waved back! He didn't look too happy about it but it was still a wave

LMAO!!

I had a 2 'followers' today. It used to freak me out when people would get up beside me and go the same speed (or pull back a little bit) but now I'm used to them checking out JB's hot ! LOL

Anyways, 2 different people both pulled up beside me today....a lady that yelled out 'cool car'. And then a guy who told me that JB was 'an awesome looking bug'..... And yes, it made my freakin' day!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had soooo many wonderful incounters with other VW owners, it makes me glow with pride to be affiliated with such a welcoming group.
- within the first week of owning my car, I was parking Navin just as a Fox owner was walking to his car and he gave me the thumbs up and I saw him say "nice"...that's when I knew I was welcome in the clan of VW owners
- On a road trip I once traveled in a small "swarm" of Bugs (about 3 of us) for about 20 minutes passing others
- on a small country road in central Washington I came to a 4 way stop where I found myself surrounded by 3 other Bugs!!!! One of them even flashed a peace sign at me (that cracks me up every time)! What were the chances?

For the first time today I got a wave!! A real genuwine full on grin and wave from a pretty yellow NB!! I've been waving like a madman to all the NB's I see but very few wave back, and then it's a half hearted "umm do I know you?" wave. But today in the midst of our snow storm I was stopped at a light and a yellow NB was turning and as she passed I raised my arm and realized the woman was grinning and waving too! I was so excited I didn't even notice the kwappy, slippery roads all the way home.

(and my husband thinks I'm a real idiot since that was the first thing I shrieked at him when I got home)

Went to go grocery shopping today. As I was at a stoplight I noticed a NB coming up behind me & pulled into the left turn lane. I looked over & the female drive was pointing at my NB & her male passenger was looking over. I smiled & waved , they both started waving, grinning ear to ear. Unfortuantely the light turned green & I had to take off, but I couldn't help but smile for the next couple miles.
It's nice that a total stranger can pick you up, after someone has let you down.
Today was a good day!

I have only had soemone wave at me once. I was in Austin heading east on Hwy 290 at the Sringdale light. It was the very first night that I got my Beetle. Anyhow I noticed some car was coming up behind me quite fast then pulled up beside me. It was another beetle and the girl looked so excited to see another bug driver and waved at me with a big smile. I thought it was a great induction to owning a beetle.

Although I do see a few beetles every now and then, and usually the same 5, no one has ever waved to me
I suppose perhaps either I look at the wrong time, or they just don't see me.

But I have returned to my Herbie on a few instances when it's parked in a business lot, and see people taking pictures of her. I even once saw a japanese family posing with Herbie outside an Office Depot...

Yay! I got my first wave on Saturday!! I was sitting at a light and the lady turned onto the street I was sitting at. I didnt realize that she was waving at me at first...since Ive never been waved at before by a fellow NB enthusist. Plus, I really dont see NB's that offten. But, BluMeanie was freshly washed and nice and shiny, so maybe thats why she noticed me.

I've gotten one wave on the road in 2 months so far. I did have a nice experience this past weekend though...went to get gas and the station was full, with people lined up at some pumps. A lady in a black NB saw me (I was driving around looking for a pump) and waved me down and started up her car and waited for me to come around before she pulled away. That rocked

Living in a very small, rural community everyone knows everybody, etc. When I stopped at the local country store to fill up (forgot when I was closer to cheaper pumps), the owner as well as all the good ole country boys were talking about my NB (name yet to be determined). They were really complimenting it and asking me all sorts of questions. From the way these guys were acting, you would have thought I would have pulled up in a Dodge Mega Cab with a cattle trailer!

The more time I spend in my NB, the more I'm lovin' it. Just gotta figure out a name...I do think it's a boy though ... lots of testosterone seems to come out when being "challenged" by some other car... Have I said before how I really looove the sound of the turbo?????

Today was a very good Beetle day!

First, I tagged a plat gray NB at Wal-Mart and gave another tag to a techno blue or blue lagoon as the female driver was getting out. She was very enthusiastic about the org and said she has a fog light that needs replaced so she wants to know how to do that.

Then 2 guys(one 50ish and the other 70ish, they own the car wash)maybe father and son complimented Daisy at the car wash. The older one told me "That's a beautiful color" and the other one looked her over for a few minutes and asked about mileage and the TDI.

Last, I beep beeped at an older guy and his wife? driving a silver NB. He had a John Deere hat on and waved and beeped back!!!

Also, yesterday my mom and I drove Daisy to Laramie Wyoming for a college basketball game. My mom drove there and I drove back. Anyone who drives to Laramie via Highway 287 knows it rises in elevation quickly with lots of hills. My mom set the cruise and Daisy took those hills like a champ, never losing even 1 mpg while on cruise!! Diesels rock!

Default Brought my Beetle home on Saturday...

And I waved at everyone! I must have seen 3 or 4 Beetles and noone waved back. I'll keep on waving, 'cause if I only get one wave back out of 100 I'll be .

It was funny, though: I was following my husband in his truck and at one point we ended up in a herd of VWs, mostly Jettas. I think it was just some random happening, but I had to call him and tell him he was surrounded. He thought I was crazy.

Anyway, I'll take pics of the car (as yet unnamed, but I'm thinking BeBop, she'll let me know if she likes it) as soon as I can clean her up. It has been slushy and soupy here, and my driveway is mud. She is a dirty bug! I'll clean her up and post her pics.

PS: I cried when I was leaving the dealership...I'll miss my RAV...but that didn't last long

Yes, I agree! I put 200 miles on my Beetle already, and the diesel gauge only dropped down 1/4 tank; I can't wait to have to fill 'er up (isn't it weird to be saying that?) and see how my mileage is.

I did have some people checking out my car and nodding at the store, and the lady at our little bakery raved about her!

Just no waves from fellow Beetles

Yup.. over a year on the NH roads and not once a wave from another beetle... course I'm not exactly waving my hand out the window like we used to do with the old Jeep wranglers.. now there's a culture that you NEVER missed a wave.. it was kinda cool.
