Hey,

First of all, Yeah, yeah, I know; everyday is a good beetle day. What I'm talking about is those things that stand out of your normal driving experience that make you say "Yeah, today has been a good beetle day". Ever have one of those.....Share

Today (Friday) I picked up Buttercup from Ash Tisdale VW. She got the whole timing belt/tensioner/water pump stuff done. Even though it costed me 493.00 (I supplied the parts), it was great knowing that 'Cup won't be losing her top end due to her losing her belt. Moreover, the old water pump was about gone.

Happy as I was over the repair, this wasn't the cause of my GBD (good beetle day); well, maybe partly.

As I was heading home, I pulled into the gas station to fill up Buttercup. As I pulled up, there were a couple of Jacksonville Fire/Rescue at the station. Of course they were in uniform and in their fire engines. Apparently, they were gasing up and refreshing themselves. Anyhoo, one of the Fire/Rescue dudes came up to me and poured on the compliments towards Buttercup. Asking a battery of questions.

"How's the gas mileage? What kinda engine does she have? How does she handle?

Then rescue dude sees the interior and starts raving over 'Cup all over again. He was loving the interior paint and the stereo- thought the tunes were pretty good too. Had a little Jazz/Fusion working.

As His collegues exited the station with their various cold drinks, The Fireman waved his friends over. "Hey, yall need to check out this guys bug. It's pretty pimp"- His exact words. Needless to say, they all liked it and gave me some nice props. Oh yeah, I failed to mention that the Fireman who initially talked to me has a sis who owned a TDI, so I guess we had a common bond. Stupid me, I didn't get his name. Nevertheless, it was great talking to them. And through all of our chatting, I pumped 15.00 over what I intended to pump. No matter, 'Cup was on "E".

So as I drove off with a full tank of gas, some new found aquaintances, with stereo jamming, I could only say, "Today has been a good beetle day".

Tanks. Yeah, as of late i've been having some good Beetle days.

A couple of weeks ago, one of the ladies in Data Processing told me that I need to 'will my beetle to her' Allthough I don't plan on checking out anytime soon, the compliment was well recieved

And it looks like today started off just as good. I went to Big Chief Tire to get this recent wobbling front end problem resolved. While I was there, this young dude, who happened to be a Motocross racer and Crotch-Rocket enthusiast, was there getting his service van checked out. While doing so, he stopped and took a long glimpse of the beauty know as Buttercup. Anyhoo, we began to talk and he gave me props for the job I did on 'Cup. He said.....

"The bugs look good and all, but most of the beetles I usually see look like chick cars, but yours definately dosen't look like that. If I had a bug, I would do it like that".

Today, It's nice to see that from a guys perspective the bug wasn't treated like Rodney Dangerfield.

That's cool that you're getting you're props from people all around. It makes all the work worthwhile.

I was sitting at a red light the other day in traffic, and these 3 dudes were walking on the sidewalk. I see them look over at me, and one of them runs up and punches the other guy right in the arm. It was awesome! It makes Pepper happy when he sees pain inflicted on others.

I'm kidding.

Lil' Blue,
I've owned Buttercup since Mar '00 and I still get that "first time" feeling. Especially after washing her up and buffing her to a shine. Schweeet.
I did have a mini Bug-a-van (yeah, I know many call it a Car-a-bug, but Bug-a-van just seems to roll of the tongue better) the other day. Leaving work an '06 NBC/Harvest Moon and I drove a good 3-4 miles till we reached our respected homes. A thing of beauty.

Over the past couple of days, 'Cup has been getting a lot of looks from passers by. Today, as the family-unit and I were out eating our post-church dinner, I peered out of the resturant window on a couple of ocassions and to my amazement, many would walk, stop and behold the beauty that is buttercup. She gets all the attention, which is fine by me.

Ah yes, the past couple of days have been good beetle days. That and the fact that 'Cup has new front brake pads (Green Stuff) and her A/C fixed. Woohoo.

I just started my new job, and we had a big district meeting a couple days ago. Some of my co-workers from other branches saw me get out of my car in the parking lot and came over to admire my interior mods and the shiny finish that only a black bug can have. Even though I'm the "newbie", I have "the funnest" car out of anyone.

One week today, and I get that feeling every time I get inside. Whatever my mood, I can't help but grin when I start the engine, or when battered old car owners trash their engines overtaking - I don't care that they're overtaking - I could race if I want but I'm having too much fun cruising just under the speed limit

My only gripe is there's no parking near me, and although I leave her right outside the police station I feel really bad walking away

BeccyBug, I can totally relate! My motto these days seems to be "it's all about the experience" an experience that only a Beetle owner truly relates to !

Default Today was a Great Beetle Day!

I had several experiences today that add up to one GREAT Beetle day....

First --- My neighbor pulled into the driveway behind me tonight just to comment on how good my wheels looked!!!

Second- I made up some tags and "tagged" my first Beetle
I felt so giddy walking up to the car!!!!

Last I was in a store and heard a little girl (about 3)say to her father she liked "that yellow car" His replay was "honey that's one of those fancy cars... that's a bug"! Then he taught her the punchbuggy no punchbacks!

I was beside myself !!! Now a few hours later I am still smiling at that!!!!

It's been a while, but I have many 'good beetle days'- here's some that took place over the past week

1. On the way to Tampa this past weekend, I made a stop for some petrol and while I was fueling Cup, this dude approaches me and the Cupster and was in loving Cup, and all that made her what she is. He said that he pulled up to the store and saw her, and had to come over to check her out. Of course I gave him the tour and what not. Come to find out that He owned an air-cooled back in the day and really wants to get back into the beetle scene. I told him about the org and He said he'd check us out. Of course this event was followed by the GTG in Tampa where I met TampaDub, Celeste and Xscribe. Awesome time.

2. Next 'Good Beetle Day' took place this past Wednesday. I had to take one of my co-workers to pick up one of our deivery trucks from the shop. Anyhoo as we approached the stop light, there was a Galactic Blue NB along side us. I of course tapped on Cup's horn and she waved me a peace sign. Of course the rolling down of our windows soon followed. We conversed like we knew each other for years; bragging on our bugs and how much we loved them. As the light turned green, we waved again and motored to our destinations.

The funny thing was that my co-worker and friend looked over at me and said...

"Man yall got some secrect society going on here. Yall just throw the secret sign, roll down your windows and talk like you're not strangers. It's the Beetle Nation
(his exact words and one of my favorite beetle-isms. I never said that to him- he just said it)
I guess I need to get me a beetle and join your secret society"

When we arrived back to work from the shop, he went on tell some of the fellas the event that took place. Good stuff.

Ah yes, those were some good beetle days for sure

Just had one of those! Shoulda posted my topic under here. Didnt see it 'til just now.

EDIT: My Beetle day! Copied from my orignal post.

Man, my day went awesome.

Got waves from 2 Cyber Greens today, then I parked next to a Cyber Green at PetsMart.

It really made me happy because in the past when I spotted a Beetle coming my way, or a caught a glance of one coming up on me from behind, I'd get all excited and get my hand ready wave.

...Then they'd just drive on by without so much as a glance in my direction. Lmao. Bit of a let down So I started feeling like a dork, and pretty much gave up on the Beetles in my area.

Then today, not only did I get two waves(They waved first!), but they were from Cyber Greens! Woohoo! It was worth the wait.

The first waver of the day was a dude in his Cyber Green(he had the spoiler I wanted ) And he was looking over as he pulled up beside me. As soon as I smiled he waved and I waved back then gave him two thumbs up.

Then the second wave came when I was stopping at an ATM. Another Cyber Green with two ladies in it were stopped at a red light and were looking over at me from across the street. Then the driver leaned forward to wave, and so did the passenger. Yeah!

Then later when I went to PetsMart there was this really sweet looking Cyber Green, looked like it had just been washed, sitting all alone so I parked right next to it. I spotted another one parked across the parking lot infront of a furniture store, but it was sandwhiched between two vans. curse you Soccer Moms!

THEN, on my way out, there was ANOTHER Cyber Green parked in the next lane over. I didnt see it on the way in, so it must have parked while I was still in the store.

At this point I was getting freaked out. So many Cyber Greens! But I'm not complaining.

So yeah, I was pretty much in a state of high the whole day. Still got the urge to smile even now.

I'm nuts.
