Talking They make 10,000 cars, they make them the same. And 1 or 2 of them turn out special.

They make 10,000 cars, they make them exactly the same way.
And one or two of them turn out to be something special.
Nobody knows why.

Hehe, yeah I had to quote the Love Bug.

For some weird reason, 6-2-06 just passed by without me doing anything special. But somehting special did happen. I have had my beetle for 3 years, and there just arent words to describe how perfect it really is. Yeah, it's a VW and there are some little electrical things and the starter noise. But i swear, there is just something alive about it.

Anyone else get that feeling? I've also driven Pomelo and Jenna a decent amount, and well, i didn't get that feeling from Jenna, but i i did feel it a bit in Pomelo.

There's also the peculiar things, like if i dont drive the car for a day or 2, he runs a little rough till the blue coolant light turns off. Like he's telling me he's been lonely.

Also, once in a great while, he plays with is cruise control by himself. I'll have it set to 70, and he'll slow down to 65, then speed to 75, then settle back to 70.

Am I crazy, or just even more in love after 3 years?

I hear you. I felt that way about my jetta... she and I would have been together 8 years April 22nd of this year. I was going to hit 100,000 miles pretty soon too.

Now I have had BB for a little over 4 months, I am starting to get that same sorta feeling for her. I say "hi" to her when I take the trash out. I feel bad when she doesnt get out for the day or when she is due for a bath but its a little too dusty out. When she had her windshield replaced, I was all worried about her, and kept a close eye on her.

The first month with BB was so hard because I really really really was loney for Jett, my Jetta. My Jetta and I didn't get a proper goodbye. Now that I am starting to get attached to BB, I feel better each day that I got another VW (and I found you guys on org!)

I had a 5.25i BMW for a year and a half before getting my Jetta. I felt nothing for that car, even though she was a far better then the two VWs... that car was not the same, I didn't name it, I referred to it as and "it" etc.

Congratulations Jose and Tom. Trust me, I understand.

As for the cruise control, Aphid's does that as well, and I believe the culprit is a sensor in the transmission, especially when it heats up, that feeds speed info to the ECU. I don't use CC much, so it doesn't really bother me.

Congratulations on 3 years and to many more!

My Jetta had a totally different set up for cruise, but with her older age (past 6ish) she would do little things like that as well... I never took her in, I just thought it was cute.

Oddly enough, BB, my beetle has a completely different cruise set up, its so smooth... I remember setting the cruise to the jetta, and you would jerk forward and feel the pedal leave your foot, it was as if she wanted to go faster (a little german VR6 faster). BB feels so modern, so quiet when you set her cruise...when I first got her, I didnt think I was setting the cruise because she was so solid.

It just amazes me how I feel about my VWs, thanks for sharring your story Jose.

Haha, I'm just as crazy as you are! My Baby Blue was just meant to be mine. She is a 2000 Vapor Blue 2.0. I didn't know about the internet promotion thing. I just happened to see one at my local dealer and was told that that color had to be ordered on the internet. My first car was a light blue '69 so I just had to have that color! I got to drive her out of the showroom! I love my car and wouldn't trade her for anything! She's sad now, sitting in the driveway waiting for her super charger to come back from being repaired. I pat her everytime I go outside. My kids think I'm nuts but she is NOT "just a car". Sorry for rambling I could go on and on!

"Some guys spend more time and love on their car in a week. Than they do on their wife and kids in a year. Pretty soon, the machine starts to think. It is somebody".

I believe wholeheartedly that cars can take on a personality. I experience in different ways with EVERY one of the 6 cars I own. For instance I finally got my 93 Cadillac out of the garage about a week ago. Now I had to put a new battery in when I did, but prior to being put away the passenger side power window stopped working. Wouldn't go up, wouldn't go down, and when it would it would stay down. Now all of a sudden it's working like new. I take it that "Paulie" is just happy to have his first new battery since 1998. And Herbie well. You guys all know how that goes at my house.

Or if the CEL comes on you are suddenly sad that your car may be getting sick pulls a heart string?

i've only had lilypoos for a month (is that it?!) but i love her so much already! although i'm still scared of driving her down country roads and parking in bad areas and small spaces, shes too pretty to scuff!! i do feel very tense in her (my neck ached for days after driving to my parents 220 miles away) but i'm sure that will ease.
thinks its cos naughty bob my peugeot 306 was so scary on motorways and i spent so much money trying to get him fixed when garages couldn't find out what was wrong (i'm not mad, i just know my car!!).
i still keep thinking that somethings wrong with lilypoos but shes was only serviced 5000 miles ago by vw so its prob in my head.
i'm hopefully meeting some nb people round here soon anyway so i can ask them if she sounds ok!
anyway, to end the ramble, i know how you all feel and i'm a month into my ownership of a nb and i love her so much, esp. as shes's introduced me to this forum and I now officially have a hobby!! yay!
more than a car, a way of life!

I like how Matilida chooses the right song to play on my MP3 player at exactly the right time: case in point, changing to the D4's: Come On! JUST as the lift gate at the toll booth opens

I am dying over here...I took Hermione in yesterday to Checkered Flag Jag/Porsche/Audi for her official delivery detailing and a couple of fixes (windshield fluid reservoir and armrest latch). I'm stuck driving a Toyota Corolla loaner, grrrr. I want to drive my Clever Witch, taking the long way home and dropping her into 6th gear while listening to that Rabbit song.

Cosmo's parked in the garage, awaiting his new home. It's making me sad, him being my first love. He's freshly washed inside and out...when I parked him in the garage at work, I'd make him beep a few times and wave as I stepped on the elevator, "Bye, Cosmo!"

Ha! My husband will know pain next week when he takes his Mustang in for the "We Owe" work...make him drive his POS truck. I just wish we had a need for Cosmo but, alas, we don't.

this thread is sooo great! because it's so true.

Toad - Just today, while I was outside drooling over my car, I started talking to it. I said, "Ya know what, even if a Turbo S came up and was an incredible deal...I couldn't trade ya baby. I don't care if you're only a 2.0L. You are too special to me...I am so greatful!" HAHAHA I think I'm nuts...talking to my bug.

GREAT THREAD!
