Just saw this 2000 model black NB GLX automatic (I don’t like driving stick, or else I can get better deals for sure) with 82,000 miles on it. Original owner. The car run into curb side twice, once left front and once right front. The carfax has one of the records because the owner got a ticket for trying to surpassing the front car and hit the curbside (considered an accident). The front right side wheel was the only thing replaced (he has the recorder).
Inside is okay condition. Driver side has evidence of heavily usage, driver seat leather was worn and he promised to give a whole set of leather covering. Passenger and back seats are literary new. There are dings and scratches all over the car (it is a black). The paint is still shining and no rust to find. The engine is fine (still under initial 100,000, 10yr warranty). Transmission is okay (was serviced not too long ago). Everything else works well. BUT, here are some of the concerns. 1. He hasn't had 80,000 mile service done yet. 2. the right side wheel bearing needs attention (~300 to 400 $ to replace at dealer plus alignment). 3. Front brake disks need to be changed. 4. All tires need to be changed in the next couple thousand miles. 6,000$ firm. What do you guys think? I really appreciate any input on this.. |

I agree with the above two posters. Heavy usage and dinging around on the vehicle is never good news. It might be a good deal but there is a reason for that! Stay away, especially from 2k model years. Try for a 2k2 or higher if you can, and goodluck!

You can also use kbb.com, edmunds.com or nada.com for values. I'm with all the above tho - stay away from that particular one. There are much better deals out there.
Also, I didn't know VW had a 10 yr, 100k mile warranty - is that true? Sounds fishy, but who knows. |

No they have a warranty for 10 years and 12 years up to 100k but its usually for the catalytic converter, some are up to 12 years (98 to ...2000?) But the general, my seat rattles, and my o2 sensor is out warranty is over with in 4 years or 50k miles.
He could have an extended warranty but its usually not through VW unless its a CPO and the car had high mileage to begin with...but highly unlikely. |
