Question Do Limited Edition colors for the NB increase resale value?

Hi folks! Glad I found this cozy site. I'm entering into a possible relationship with a 2002 NB in Luna Green (Special Edition color) GLS, or a 2002 White GLS. The Luna Green is different and uncommon, yet the white NB has black leather seats, which I prefer. Does SE colors have a higher resale value? Curious in case I trade up or sell for a NEWER NB (of course!) in the future. Any thoughts or knowledge on this for someone who's thinking of becoming a proud NB owner?

The only way they have a higher resale value is if the potential purchaser KNOWS that they are special and REALLY wants one. I also believe that they will hold their value more later on in life. Oh ... 20 years from now. But as of right now, no. IMHO they do NOT hold their value more than other NB's.

I have to agree with the above statement. I sold my LE Blue Lagoon color concept last year. I didn't get any more for it than any other 2003 1.8t. Somewhere in the future, someone might consider them special like we consider a 1967 beetle to be special but not right now.

Get the one you really like and is the most mechanically sound. Maybe the least miles or options that you want.

I agree witht the above. I would add that your resale potential will be maximized if you plan to advertise on sites for entheusiasts (either NB, 1.8T, VW, etc.)

I sold my TDI to a member on Fred's, and I think we both got a great deal.

I think you hit the nail on the head! Yes, I think I'll close the deal on my first impulse...White body w/ BLACK LEATHER interior AND slightly less mileage. Thank you for your time and input.

Sometimes, cars with limited edition colors or other uncommon features may actually be worth less on the open market because they are harder to sell.

Back in 2003, several dealers still had Cyber Green CCs on the lot when the Red & Blue came out. Cyber Green is a love it or hate it color for many people, and all that green was a bit much for a lot of prospective buyers.

Assuming you're going to drive this car for several years, I second Sue's line of thought that you should get what you want. Resale value is more of a consideration when buying new than used.

Back in Spring 2002, we were ready to get our Bug, then we learned of the aforementioned CGCC coming out soon. When we wandered onto the lot Sept 7 to see when they were getting them, Aphid called out to us, and the rest is NewBeetle.org history.

Cool

And I still love seeing the Vapor Beetles that were available through internet order only...

Luna is a very pretty, and rare, color, and White New Beetles rock!

The choice is only yours. Good luck. I'm glad I don't have to do this!

I personally would buy the Luna Green if I were faced with that decision...that is, given that they are somewhat comparable in all other areas other than color.
