First of all, Congratulations!
![]() Now, the windows *might*, just might be covered under recall. Could the mirror be a fuse? Other than the windows, issues seem to be minor. You are right, these little, round cars are so much fun (congrats for the 1.8T! ) that some little things seem like nothing. Try to get these things repaired, and you will have the funnest car on the road!! ![]() Pics, please! ![]()

Congrats I just bought the same thing... black GLX. I have had a 2.0 Bug for years and the 1.8T is awesome... great on gas too. Getting around 30 mpg on highway.
The windows are probably the window regulator issue. It was a warranty/recall issue from VW. Have a VW dealer run the VIN, you might just get it fixed free. The mirrors should move with the control, if not check the fuses. Do a search on here for fuse guide and keep it handy for future reference. VW includes a fuse card, however for fuse numbers it just identifies the fuse as 'picture of light bulb' - what lightbulb?? Yeah get the fuse list from here and check that first. Congrats!

I believe you have two issues...
I agree with the other members that faulty window regulators are giving to you the popping and crackling sounds from your windows. The dead mirror issue could be a faulty mirror control switch, fuse #5 or a faulty door control module. I recently experienced the tempermental window ops along with the "dead" mirrors. The solution for my car was to replace the door control module. The door control module is located inside the driver's door and it's part of the window motor assembly (they're sold together). This black plastic box governs the mirrors and windows. After you check the fuses and switches and find that all else is well, this may be a place to look. The module/motor assembly costs $345 at the dealer (part only). I found one at my local German car salvage yard for $45 including a 60 day warranty and took me 1/2 hour to complete with beer in hand and NOT knowing what I was doing...
