Exclamation Help!

Okay guys, a dealership called my house today, and they actually have a 2006 Gecko Green TDI package 2 in stock! My dilemma is, I've put a refundable deposit on a Platinum Gray pkg 2 that won't be in until November. I can't decide which one! Here's possibly the deal breaker, the Gecko Green already has a rear spoiler, satellite radio, and the monster mats, and it's still $1200 cheaper than the Platinum Gray, that only has the monster mats, I'll still have to add the spoiler and radio. I need quick thoughts, I can't make the decision on my own! They're both awesome colors!

Man, buy the colour you like best! Like you said you can add stuff! Of course, I'd go for the Platinum Gray since it’s closest to Black that you mentioned...But hey I'll biased.

I've seen the Gecko Green up close and I like it a lot. I use to have a Platnum Gray '04 Jetta; and I LOVE that color as well. I'd Probably go with the Gecko Green because it has more options, its cheaper, and I'm a huge fan of instant gratification..I have ZERO patience! On the other hand, if Platinum Gray is what you REALLY want, then hold out for what you really want, or you may regret it later.

BTW, are you getting it from Don Jacobs?

I would go for the gecko green. It has more options, it's less expensive, and it looks freak'n sharp! I am biased towards the green, but you will have to go with what you feel comfortable with.

I think I am going to go and stare at mine some more now..........

I love the org! Everyone is so helpful! I'm leaning towards Gecko Green, because green is my absolute favorite color (instant gratification also helps). I had a 2001 in the cyber green color and I loved it, I like this color because it's sort of toned down and more sparkly. BUT, the platinum gray is pretty pimp too and I haven't seen a lot of them. Don Jacobs is actually getting a package 2 in the Gecko Green on their lot in December, but the place that has this one is in Indianapolis, called Tom Wood VW, and it's still in the plastic protective wrapping! I just hate to call the other dealership and tell them I've changed my mind. That's another dilemma. My $1000 deposit was considered "refundable pending trade agreement" in case they don't offer a lot for my Jeep on trade in November. I dont' want to be like "look, I found another dealership that has one in stock and I'm buying it instead." I know that chances are, of course they'll sell the TDI, because from just calling around and trying to find one I've realized that they are few and far between, so that makes me a feel a little bit better. I just don't know how to word what I'm going to tell them, without lying, if I decide to get the green one.

Is it the GTI in their showroom? If so, I saw it, and it's awesome. My dad wanted to speed off in it I think.

LOL Don Jacobs really is a super dealership, I bought my other bug from them and they are all really nice and helpful. Somehow my seat got ripped one time when they were servicing it and they threw in a bunch of free oil changes and fixed everything. I would have bought their Gecko Green, but it won't be here until December, and they wanted a $2000 non-refundable deposit. I was too scared to drop the cash in case that in December I wouldn't get a very good trade in on my Jeep, if I decided not to trade, they still would've made some good cash. The GTI looked pretty sweet though. I didn't look for the fast, was there one inside it?

The ONLY Vdub dealership I'd buy from other then Don Jacobs would be Bachman Volkswagen in Louisville.

You should be able to arrange for the dealer that you have made a deposit with to get the gecko green dub from the other dealership.

I hadn't really thought about asking the dealership to get the Gecko Green, but I'd say that even if they did, they'd add whatever extra fees to it that they did to the Platinum Gray one that made it $1200 more expensive. I think that some dealerships are adding to the msrp because these cars are getting really hard to find.

I would personally get the Plat Grey
but im a little biased towards the color

If you think that the green is what you will be the happiest with get the green because you will be the one driving it and only you can decide.

Okay I'm going to go with the Gecko Green. But, I have to call the other dealership in the morning and see if I can get my money back. What do you guys think, should I ask them about dealer trading it and see what they say, if they say no, then ask for my deposit back? Or, should I just tell them that I've decided not to get the car and ask if I can have my deposit back? My trade agreement says "Deposit will be refundable if we cannot agree on trade."

I'm having a hard time giving you a good answer. In the future, always insist on a refundable (without conditions) deposit.

I'd go and ask if you can get your deposit back. Tell them you've decided to wait on a purchase for financial reasons. Perhaps they'll give it all, perhaps a portion.

You certainly will come out somewhat ahead ($200+spoiler+sirius) no matter what. You'll be getting a car with better options, with less of a wait....and at a lesser net price (even if you lose your entire deposit)

Good luck.
