Hi! new member!

Hi, my name is Emily, I just joined the forum. I have a 1998 new beetle in black. I just got it a month ago and it has 103k on it. Its my first car. I have had to do a lot of repairs when i got it, new tires, new brakes, several alignments, new sunroof and it still needs a new speedometer headlight and clock but I love my beetle, I call my beetle Ringo, lol. Nice to be here.

Is your sunroof factory? I ask because only the 99 models (the GLS at that) came with a sunroof...the simple way to tell would be: do you have an LED turn signal on the side of the car just infront of the doors, above the fenders?

I hope you get your car working!! Whats wrong with the speedometer?

The sunroof needed a new motor, I dont have leds on the outside of the car. Its a basic manual, only has a tape player. the speedometer stops working at about 50 and will dance between 50 and 60 so you don't know how fast you are going. I had such a big grin on my face when i tested it today after getting the alignment for the third time and it was perfectly straight. I was like ooh yeah I am attempting to add a few pics

I am in Western NY, where are you? I have another hamster beetle with zebra stripes, I had to get them for my hamsters when i got mine.

Emily- you are adorable! My speedo does the same thing but at 80. Used to be 70, but now it's 80. I just know I should slow down when it starts wobbling... but I can't! It's very annoying though. When you get it fixed, let me know what they say cuz I am curious as to what's wrong with mine.

Your NB is beautiful; so shiny! Looks good, especially for a 98! You said it's your first car so I'm assuming you're about 16? Congrats!

I love the hamster NB's. When I saw those lil things at PetCo, I almost bought a hamster just so I could buy the NB for it! LOL!

thanks for the compliment. I am actually 21, a little late in the game. My speedometer is supposed to go to a VW dealer cause the other repair shop couldn't do it. They say its a technical thing. Its funny you mention Petco by name, thats where i work. Go buy a hamster! But get a dwarf hamster they are the best!

I used to have a dwarf hamster I loved that thing so much

i have three dwarfs that i just adore, Sonic, who was seen in the beetle, Hampy, and Tanooki. I love working at petco its like having a ton of dwarfs.
