98 Beetle factory radio - some buttons don't work

I have a 98 NB with fatory radio and CD changer in trunk. Recently several buttons have stopped responding to touch. First it was the up function of the up/down button, then the down function of same. Today The CD button refuses to respond- I can get tape/am/fm/ but cd does nothing. Contemplating removing front plate to have a look (after I'm sure I have the radio code card), but not sure what I'll encounter doing this. any helpful tips on opening up radio or repairing non-resposive buttons?

I'm not sure what is causing your radio problem - I always had trouble with the trunk CD changer (I ended up going through three of them - I figure they're like dispoable lighters: they last for awhile and then you get a new one!)

Anyway,I just had my factory radio replaced in my 2000 NB. I don't know if it's the same type you have (sounds like it is - maybe one of the technical .org gurus can answer that), but it's in great working order although the up, down and number 1 buttons have some 'wear' on them. I have not use for it that I can see, so ... Just something to think about.
