Default Hello from Central Florida - PICS ADDED

This is my 4th Volkswagen! Since my last VW I sold back in '99, I'm happy to be behind the wheel of a VW once again. My first was a '90 Jetta GL, then '95 Jetta City, Then 98 Jetta Wolfsburg, now back to a '98 Beetle. I bought it off a friend of mine who works at the local VW dealer. It's been kept well and runs perfectly. The best part... NO PAYMENTS! I have had a couple other cars mixed in with the VW's - '89 Audi 100, '98 Audi A4, '02 Dodge Dakota, '05 Camry . There's something about getting in the Beetle that just makes it a fun and great driving experience. I'm really excited to be part of the VW family again.

Later,

Jonathan
Lakeland, Florida

Welcome to NewBeetle.org! I'm with ya' on the Beetle being something special. It's tough to explain to folks who drive 'ordinary' cars , but it makes a lot of sense to us.

I'm in the Sunshine State a few times a year, so watch for the wave!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I just got the Beetle last night. I haven't even had time to wash it yet for its first photo op. I'll get to it

EDIT: Meet Layla! The car has a name now. I'm a huge Clapton fan, so scarabY2k helped me out. Thanks!

It's cool to see some folks nearby.

I finally took a pic of the car Notice the pedals? They came out of a Mercedes SLK.

Welcome to the org. I tell ya, one minute there's few central FL Beetle people to be found, and now you guys are coming out of the woodwork- I love it. Raised in Brooksville and I do make it down there often- Mom and the sibs. Anyhoo, hows about you guys cook up a little GetToGether- say meet up a Sonic or something; start with something small and others will join in. Give me adequate notice and i'll do my best to show up.

I saw on another thread that you're a Clapton fan, Cool. By any chance is you bug named Layla?

Don't be a stranger here- POST OFTEN.

Welcome aboard

Thanks for the welcome. A GTG would be pretty cool. I'm not much for organization of those sorts of things. I have been keeping really busy at work, and my wife is expecting twins.

If somebody around the area is good can organize something like that, I'd be happy to lend a hand to make it happen.

scarabY2k, I haven't named my NB anything... yet. However, thanks for naming it for me. Layla - I like it! In fact, check out my signature line now

Wow! I'm honored my man, thank you. Layla is not only a good song, but the name.... oh so sultry. Quite fitting for a NB.

Jonathan walks out to Layla with keys in hand.
Jonathan steps into Layla and puts the keys into her ignition and says
"Darling won't you ease my worried mind"
"Varooooom", sweetly purrs Layla to Jonathan
A smile emerges on Jonathan's face as he drives off

Oh yeah, all the best to you, your wife and the arrival of the twins.

Sweet Beetle! I grew up in Lakeland and now live in Homosassa. I would love to see a few of us start getting together for meet-ups every onece in a while. It gets lonely up here amongst all of these 4-wheel drive pick'um-up trucks.
