Default New Beetle girl owners needs advice on brakes

Hello! I am new here and am so glad I found this site. Sad to say I have definitely not been keeping up with maintenance on my 2000 1.8T Beetle since the warranty went out in May. (Yes, I have gotten oil changes) The good thing is that I normally only drive to and from work on a daily basis, which is a 5 miles or so each way, so the car doesn't get much mileage at any given time.

Anywho...I am in desperate need of front brake pads and rotors and I have been doing some research. It looks like a lot of people have been suggesting the Zimmerman rotors with the EBC Greenstuff pads. I basically want no noise and no/little brake dust. I want what is good for my car, but don't know squat about cars. I desperately need advice on this and if anyone is in the area I would greatly appreciate the help (Chicago/NW Indiana area) Should I get vented, slotted, drilled, etc? =) Thanks in advance.

P.S. Price looking to spend is around $200. I wouldn't mind buying the whole set and changing all at once either.

P.P.S I need sensors on the pads, right? And, they are discs, right?

P.P.S. Now that I think about it, I am pretty sure I have seen those red brake pads on my Baby Beetle

I like my Brembo's ... haven't used the greenstuff ... my PBR Ceramic pads work great, they are low dust ... but dust a lot more than my stock front ones ever did. Zimmerman and Brembo are the best discs. I didn't get drilled or slotted, if they are not drilled correctly they may crack. If I AutoXed a lot I might go for that, but the plain ones work well enough for me.

I would say Welcome to the ORG ... but you have been here at least 22 days now .... might be better to post this in one of the tech forum threads, instead of new user .... most newbs don't know what a Zimmerman or EBC is.

I would do just the fronts, and splurge on a better rotor/pad.
BTW, welcome to the funnyfarm Any pics of your bug?
