Nasty noise emminating from left front of car..

Just bought a 2000 New Bug, 2.0 engine, 95k and, after about one week, I have noticed a rather nasty sound emminating from either the driver's side or somewhere close to the front left of the car. This noise does not occur when I start the car; it does not occur when I back up however, it starts shorty after I begin accelerating....and, then...goes away again (only to return at lower speeds).

I love this little car (sliver, automatic, very clean on the outside, no damage to the inside --except usual wear & tear).

I'm scheduled to bring it to the dealer's shop on Friday (10/12/07) and I am wondering if anyone in the forum has any suggestions/ideas???

I hope it is minor, and I wish you good luck at the dealer service. Let us know what the problem noise is. Then have fun with your new-to-you New Beetle!
