Greetings!

I just discovered this site, but the interface is familiar as I am a long-time member of AirForums. The last Volkswagen product that I drove was a 1971 Karmann Ghia coupe (through 1980 when it was replaced by a Plymouth Horizon)-- what a difference 36 years have made!

My 2007 New Beetle Convertible was a birthday present that I purchased for myself in November of 2007. I was determined to find a late model Cyber Green/Gecko Green New Beetle convertible with the tan leather upholstery -- after looking for more than a year I decided to opt for an end of model year special on a new car. It has been absolutely fantastic with just over 4,500 miles on the odometer. The only isse was the distance to the nearest dealer -- in excess of three-hours driving time.

My high school students are evenly split over whether they like my New Beetle, but that doesn't surprise me too much after teaching high school for more than twenty years.

WELCOME! I have a cyber green in IL too! We are currently planning an IL NB get together for June. You can find it on the events page. Please make an effort to come! We dont have much planned at all yet except the location!

Greetings and thanks for the warm welcome!

I read about the Midwest Meet in Pontiac, but unfortuneately, the date is the same weekend that I will be in the Vintage Airstream Parade to the Wally Byam Caravan Club International Rally in Bozeman, Montana. My New Beetle will be a bit lonely -- I will be traveling in my '75 Cadillac Eldorado convertible towing my 1978 Argosy Minuet 6.0 Metre -- will likely be departing Southern Illinois on June 15 and likely won't be returning until sometime aroung July 15.

I am going to try to get to the Volkswagen Fest in Effingham, but may just drive in for Saturday as we may still have school on Tuesday following the event. The drive between here and Effingham is among my favorites for top-down driving -- IL 37 to US 45 -- then US 45 North to Effingham.
