Default New Bugger here!!

Hello Folks,
I pulled the trigger and finally bought a used (but pristine) '06 Harvest Moon Conv.
Was about to buy a Jeep Patriot, but being a NY Giants fan.....well, you get the idea.

Anyway, please help my man ego and tell me everything will be alright. Everyone at work is ragging on me that I bought a girly car......(so a little of that seeped into my username, hope no one is offended).
So I hope I didn't put my man-hood on the line buying this fun little car.

Hope to chat with you all.

Eric

Welcome Eric to the org.

A big thanks to your NY Giants for shutting down those cheatin' Pats. For one day, your Giants became our favorite football team.

Yep, we're the disrespectables, hated by those who live inside the box. We're different cats, but we wouldn't have it any other way

I see so many guys driving NBs around my area. Quite a few are older, probably 40s and up. Who gets to decide what cars guys should drive and what cars girls should drive? I love Daisy, but I would also take that diesel truck any day! In addition to Daisy of course.

WELCOME TO THE ORG!!!

Congrats on the purchase! Check out the New Beetle Pictures...there's some modded bugs in there that make it look nothing like a 'chick's car'. And you can also tell them that since it's a 'chick's car', that all the ladies love it.

I have only one word of wisdom:

Welcome Eric

At first I was about to comment on your funny username, not knowing you were mentioning it in your message.

Congratulations on your nice NBC. Have fun with it.

And don't worry about your friends calling you names. Here at the Dutch club, it's mostly guys driving the NB(C)'s

At the end of the day its what YOU WANT not what others think they think you should have...my goodness....if we did everything everyone else thought was right for us...yikes!

Meanwhile that car sounds awesome and what fun in the summer. I would love a vert but I will get one in the classic bug some day.

Also speaking of the myth of the girly car - one car known as such was the cabrio vert from the 80's. I know a guy that drives around in one - bright white and really nice. He either doesn't know that car has an old label or simply doesn't care. Either way the car is cool and it draws attention in all the right ways.

Oh yeah and most females think that guys that cruise around in mega trucks (not including commercial vehicals or towers) are trying to make a statement - something like 'I have a big car to make up for my small...(fill in the blank....)

Thanks for all the ego boosting folks. Really appreciate it.

After buying it I brought it over to the VW dealer in another town for them to look at it.
Had some warranty work done on it (replaced Monsoon Head unit and replaced stress cracked rear tail light around seals) But thank God I brought it there for it's 20,000 mile service!! Both front tires were shredded past the wear indicator marks (Jeep dealer should not have sold car with them like that...and they wouldn't reimburse me for it! Jerks! Buy at least the VW dealer got it all done and they had a helluva time getting the alignment right after replacing the tires (had all 4 done since I was there).

Now it's time to start accessorizing!!!
If anyone knows where I can get some parts like: interior door grip handle and rubber seal trim around lock controls (mine are peeling on driver side) would be grateful.

Thnx all- Hope to see some of you on the road and get my first Beetle wave!

BTW- How do you all post pics here? Tried attaching photos but just keeps saying downloading and never attaches.

Your pictures might be too big. Slow downloading can occur when the pictures exceed the required parameters. Are you getting a prompt saying that the file exceeds the required size?

VW's are like puppies, chicks like them and think you are sensitive for having them. You'll likely get more tail in a NB Vert than you would driving a "more manly" car. Besides, you can mod them and then kick the ass of most cars on the road. You'll be surprised at how much performance you can get out of a correctly modifed car.
