Red face This is my story.

Hello there. My name is Emmery and I’m a new member to this forum. I’m glad to know that there’s other people out there as obsessed with this car as I am.

My beetle obsession started off when I was in the 5th grade. My best friend at the time wanted a PT cruiser, and I wanted a lime green new beetle. My sixteenth birthday passed, I got my license and a year later as a late christmas gift I got my car.
Her name was Princess Daisy. She was a 2000 lime green new beetle with a sunroof, tan interior and heated seats. She was so beautiful, I cried the day I got her and would often just stare out my bedroom window to look at her. I loved this car. I kissed it goodnight when I got out of it, and often waved to it upon approaching it.

We were together one week.

Last tuseday, I was leaving school. I stopped at a stop sign and it was a bit icy, so my car proceeded to slide forward. An eighteen wheeler truck was coming fast, and the last memory I have is seeing the truck going by like a speeding train and my mouth opening to scream. The back wheels ran over the front of my princess, literally tearing her in two and throwing me [thankfully buckled into the front seat] and the front of the car a few hundred feet down the road.

I remember waking up and seeing the windshield completely cracked, the driver’s side window gone. I immediately started crying, screaming ‘my car! Oh my god, my car!’ The driver of the eighteen wheeler was there trying to console me, tell me he would get me a new one, but my love was gone.
I survived the accident with nothing more than a broken collarbone and some lacerations to my face from the glass breaking. The seatbelt saved my life and the insurance woman commented on the strength of my car to take the blow and not tip or just crush me completely. The car was totaled, as I said, ripped in two. My darling Princess Daisy was gone just like that.

I’m on bedrest now, can’t get back to school until next week, and I just simply miss my car. My mom says she’s going to get me a new one, but I don’t know. We took so long to find Princess Daisy, she was the perfect interior and everything. I’m really just thankful to have my life and I can’t wait to own another beetle, even if it isn’t the same as my princess.
So that’s my story.

I didn’t get much of a chance to take any pics of Princess Daisy, unfortunately and I’ve been told not to look at the pictures of her after the accident since it would probably scare me. But, once I get my new car I will be sure to post pictures of it!

Glad you're OK. Cars can be replaced but people can't. Since you're such a fan of the Cyber Green, you should look for a Cyber Green Color Concept for your next Beetle! They have green leather inserts in the seats and green wheel inserts.

Oh wow! Thanks for the tip. I love that interior, it looks very neat. And I think I’m definitely going to hunt out leather interior this time, my shedded hair kept getting stuck to the cloth, making my car look as if it needed a lint roller, heh.

And yeah, the nurses at the hospital told me ‘you’ll learn today that material posessions don’t matter.’ I am very grateful I am alive.

They were 2003 GLS 1.8t only. The only factory options were a trunk-mounted CD changer and an automatic transmission. Everything else was standard. I'd LOVE a Cyber Green Color Concept.

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

WOW Emmery, what an amazing story. Thank God you're okay. Your Princess Daisy saved your life, and that is a memory of her that you can always appreciate.

You are a certified beetle nut. Amidst the violence of that accident, your response was "oh God, my car"!.... don't worry, you're in good company here; we're all beetle nuts too. I probably would have said the same thing if that happened to my Buttercup.

Keep us posted on your search and as Casey said, fill out your vitals; that will help us, help you. Well i guess by the snow and ice that you were subjected to, it's safe to say that you're not from Florida

So you were in the 5th grade when you first had a love for the new beetle. You know, you're making a lot of us feel old. Cute story though

And welcome to the org family.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!

I’m going to fill in my vitals asap.

scarabY2k, yes I am a beetle nut. Thinking back it is quite rediculous those were the first words out of my mouth, not ‘wow why are the side airbags covered in blood’. My mom tires of me obessing over them and VWs in general. She has a passat and I think I like the car more than she does! And don’t feel old, I think loving this car makes everyone young at heart.

The beetle does bring out the youth in all of us, thanks.

I think your mom and my wife would get along well. My wife thinks i'm off my nut too, obsessing over Buttercup the way I do. She calls her "the other woman".. go fig

Hey Emmery, my mom thinks its funny that i obssess over my lovely Fiona, although I think she has gotten over it because now she talks to her like i do

When she gets in the car the seatbelt light comes on and dings so my mom goes "Oh my god Fiona shut up!" haha and I tell her shes keeping her grandma safe hehe and yes the majority of us would have had the same exact reaction, thats how i was when i was in a fender bender (to the other car)

Dear God! Thank goodness you are gonna be OK!

It is so sad to hear of that horrible accident, but the bottom line is : Your New Beetle sacrificed her life for you. She loved you as much as you loved her. Ya, it's wierd, but most of us here know what that means.

Welcome to the Org, and I hope you find your next New Beetle quickly. Take care of your self until then.

ScarabY2K: The other woman, heh, that’s great. I remember telling everyone princess daisy removed my need for a boyfriend, at least temporarily.

Mybugrocks: I am jealous of the name of your bug, it is SO cute. My little sister is currently obsessed with the movie ‘Shrek’, and I didn’t even think of that name in the procss. I honestly wanted to name her some sort of stripper name like 'Candy' High five to you for creativity.

1.8beetle: Thank you!

Dnyed: Yes thankfully I’ll be okay, the pain of the broken collarbone gets a bit less each day. And that’s a really good way to think about this whole ordeal. Thank you.

I can’t start bug hunting just yet, although I was looking at listings online last night and sighing a bit. I don’t think I’m physically capable of driving just yet with the broken collarbone and now we have to go to court because the police officer at the scene is trying to say I didn’t stop at the stop sign, although the three witnesses to the accident claim I did. I honestly think people love to point fingers at teen drivers.

But anyway, Accidents are a hassle in more ways than one, I’m learning that fast.

Thanks again everyone!

I found these pics in my photobucket account, the dealer took them and I saved them so I could flaunt her to everyone.

wow Emmery, what a story! I'm glad you're okay.

You're a lucky girl for getting an NB for your birthday and getting another one now this one is unfortunately totalled

And I'm afraid I would react the same if something happens to my Bugje, screaming "Oh my car!!!!".

Good luck hunting !
