Greetings. I'm a new member living in American Falls, ID. I've owned several air cooled VWs. We bought a '99 New Beetle for our daughter several months ago and now it seems to have several electrical issues. I know that early models of many cars frequently have common faults such as bad ground connectors. Does anyone know what the common faults are with this year?

Had a similar problem with our 99 - the dealer could never find out the problem and we had to trade it in. Good Luck.

Check the fuse box on top of the battery and the condition of the wires leading in and out of it. Also, tired ignition switches can cause lots of issues. Less often, instrument clusters are an issue. Good luck.
