Hey I just discovered newbeetle.org so I thought I would introduce myself. I have always loved beetles for as long as I can remember and last summer I finally bought one. She is a red 2002 GLX and her name is Ruby. I now believe in love at first sight, beetles are the cutest cars on the road in my opinion.

I named my bug Abby. She's in honor of Abby from NCIS. My bug is black and for anyone who watches, they know Abby is fond of black. It seemed perfect and so far, it fits just right.

I get my Beetle in 5 days , and it already comes named . When my wife and I decided to get a Beetle , we looked on Kijiji and found a white one we liked . I set up a time to go see it . The night before I was saying to my wife we should put Herbie stripes and '53' on this car . She said no with no hesitation . So the next day on the test drive I was talking to the girl selling the car and told her this story . She laughed and said the car's name is actually 'Herbert' . I think the name will stick , although it might get modified to 'Herbie' (I am putting small '53' stickers on the quarter windows).

I just got my silver bug a few weeks ago, and instantly knew her name was Flutterbug....

We flit this way and that all across town for work like a little butterfly, so it's appropriate, I guess...

Can't remember if I've posted in this thread...don't think I have.

My darling is Darla. She just told me her name. I was thinking Daisey at first but Darla is what stuck. No idea why. All our VWs have/had names. My fiance's old B4 Passat was Helga...she was a very angry German woman. Our Mk1 Jetta is Klaus (gotta stick with the German for the german-built cars!). All the names just kind of fell into place. I picked Klaus. We knew he was a boy and he felt very German. So Klaus stuck. Bill's Honda doesn't have a name...its just The Honda (although is B4 was The Passat for a a few years). We've tried to give her a name (we've at least figured out its a her) but no name. Something about VWs just lends a personality to give them names I guess! :P

I just bought a 2002 NB last month. It is the first Beetle I have ever owned and I just love it. It has some "bugs" that I am trying to work on, like no back up lights, but it is coming along slowly but surely. I have named my NB "Doodle-Bug" and call it "Doodles" for short. I am happy to be here with you and welcome any advise you can give a new NB owner.
