Car: 2004 Sundown Orange NBC
Talking My first car! :)

Hi everyone!

My name is Andrea, and i'm 16. I just got my bug tonight, a Sundown Orange 2004 New Beetle Convertible. (My absolute dream car!) I can't get my license for at least another week, but i'm thrilled to finally have my New Beetle. I've always loved them, and it's been a lifelong dream of mine to have a convertible. Naturally, i've been in love with NBCs since they first came out! Bugs just make me happy, and I can't wait to start driving mine. I'm sure the rest of you can relate! Her name is Sally, by the way. If anyone has any tips or anything for me as a new Beetle owner, that would be great!

(It's below freezing out, but I couldn't resist putting the top down for pictures. Can you blame me?? lol)

Here she is, as shown on the dealership website:

You are definately a beetle nut... you're in good company! Welcome to the nB and org family! What a car to have for your first car- enjoy the experience!

My suggestion to you is to frequent this site OFTEN. Why......???
1. it's a great resource for technical/maintanence help- could save you money at the dealership and even give you greater options
2. You might even get the chance to show off your nB at a GTG-get together and even meet fellow dubbers.

Enjoy your vert, and please post pictures

Wow, 16 and your beetle was a lifelong dream..... Man do i all of a sudden feel old

I know the feeling! I had mine down last night going 65 mph down SC Highway 22. It was only 49 degrees, though.

Thanks everyone! I love the sense of community amongst Beetle drivers.

By the way, her name's Sally. It was the name that popped into my head after my first test drive with her, so it stuck! Oh, and silly as it sounds, I was outside hugging her earlier. I LOOOOVE my Bug...and that's a total understatement.

Ride Sally, ride? Plus she's a 1.8T! Oh i KNOW you're riding!

Btw, welcome to the org!! VERY nice car you have there! Can we have some more details about Sally? Mileage, transmission, trim level and things of that nature? We could give you some good tips for maintenance.

BTW 1.8T means PREMIUM gas ONLY! 1.8T means SYNTHETIC oil ONLY and it must have the Vw 505 Requirement on the back! Its a bit more expensive, but it will help you get a smoother riding car and help you avoid possible sludge problems in the future. IF you dont use synthetic oil, you WILL have sludge!

You're one lucky girl to get such a car when you're 16

Take good care of Sally and she will bring you lots of joy in return.

Actually, she isn't a Turbo. (At least according to the dealer's website! haha) Does the Premium gas thing still apply, though??

yea nice bug. i can assure you that that tightdub will agree with me. he drives your car's twin. I rode in it once before i even thought about getting a beetle and it convinced me. So takes lots people for quick short spirited drive and you'll breed more beetle nuts to join the force.

Once again take of sally, and sally will take care of you. Welcome make yourself at home

Bit by the love bug eh?

I had a similar story. About 2years ago, I was going to get a Jetta 2.0 with an automatic. The dealer had this lonely silver bug and i walked over to it, glanced inside and left to research them. Then my neighbor (had a beetle at the time) asked me to wash her car. I test drove it over to my house and i couldn't get over all of the extra space it had over the Jetta! I thought the 2.0 was Faaaaaaast too

Long story short, i went from wanting a Jetta with an automatic, to a Beetle with a 1.8T and a stick that looks similar to that 1st silver bug that sparked my interest.

Welcome to the org too

I will as soon as I have time! I know that 9:00 PM in January isn't exactly the best time to be outside taking pictures.

Also, thanks raymondlee, and thank you again to everyone else!
